I went to see my ophthalmologist today, and they told me I have atrophy in my right eye—basically, my pupil isn't centered within the iris; it’s shifted off to the right. This is on top of the fact that about a decade ago, I was diagnosed with congenital cataracts in both eyes. What does this atrophy actually imply? What could have triggered it, and should I be seriously worried about something more underlying?
Thanks so much for any insight you can share! 👍

It feels like absolutely nobody has a clue what’s actually going on here...

Maybe you should grab a second opinion from another ophthalmologist?
If you’re in NYC, there’s a really solid eye doctor right by Times Square. Might be worth swinging by.

So, my eye doctor mentioned that there isn’t anything seriously alarming going on—it might just impact my visual acuity, though honestly, I haven't really noticed any actual issues with my vision lately... I guess I'm just curious, what could actually be causing this?

Genetics?
First time I'm hearing about this. Not really following—what kind of atrophy are we talking about here? Pupil atrophy, iris atrophy... what? You might want to post the question over at Mayo Clinic

I’m starting to think I can't post questions here anymore—or maybe I'm just losing my touch and can't find where they go...
Regarding that link you shared, it looks like it’s discussing anisocoria—where one pupil is larger than the other—rather than atrophy. To me, those seem like two very different issues entirely. As far as genetics goes, I don't believe anyone in my family has ever dealt with anything like this... 😕

Also, I have one more question—could someone explain what salivary stones actually are? 😕

These look like some kind of retinal applications. From what I dug up on Google, things aren't looking particularly bright.

I don't personally have any issues with my lacrimal puncta—at least, my eye doctor hasn't mentioned anything about them during my checkups—but I’ve been hearing the term tossed around lately and it got me wondering... what exactly are we talking about here?
