I’ve been wondering—when was the first time we saw that trope where cars just instantly explode the second they hit something? Where did that idea actually come from? Which director was the first one to start using that kind of over-the-top stunt logic?

That Challenger is a total beauty. It’s the one from Vanishing Point starring Viggo Mortensen—or whatever his name is—and there's a Challenger in that movie too. Both cars are absolute beasts, and the film itself is incredible. My only gripe is that the cars don't get nearly enough screen time.
I couldn't care less about that other car, though. I think it was some old Ford from Fast & Furious that the bald guy keeps in his garage before he ends up wrecking it. What a waste...😵

Vin Diesel is quite a presence. I remember watching him in Fast & Furious and thinking how much energy he brings to the screen.
