Looking for endocrinologist recommendations?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid endocrinologist specializing in thyroid issues?

The "thyroid doctor" is actually called an endocrinologist...

An endocrinologist handles everything from ovaries to any gland or hormone issue under the sun.
But I'm looking for someone who actually specializes specifically in the thyroid. Isn't there supposed to be a distinction?

Honestly, I’d tell you to just go with Vuk Vrhovac. I’ve been getting treated there since last fall and, man, I am seriously happy with how they handle everything—both the way they treat you and the actual care they provide. It’s legit. I’ll shoot you the number in a PM.

Word on the street is that Mayo Clinic has the absolute best nuclear medicine department in all of Chicago.

Oh, absolutely. They’ve been looking after me since 2003, though they didn't even bother doing my first specialist ultrasound until last September! But honestly? They’re top-tier. That’s exactly why I finally made the switch over to Vuk Vrhovac.

I mean, it probably just comes down to luck and who you happen to run into, right? Clearly, I didn't have any luck at first.

I’d suggest reaching out to Prof. Branka Vizner; she’s an excellent endocrinologist over at the Sisters of Mercy Medical Center in Chicago.

I’m heading over to see Dr. Huic at the Mayo Clinic now to get a second opinion... I already saw someone at the Vinogradska clinic earlier.
The more people involved, the more information we get, right?

If surgery becomes necessary—meaning an ENT specialist—I would absolutely recommend the team at the Sisters of Mercy. There simply isn't anyone better.

I've got a few questions

• How did you figure out you actually needed an endocrinologist specifically for your thyroid? (Was it because you were feeling symptoms, or just doing some proactive checking?)

• I'm curious about where people usually go—like, do you just see a general endocrinologist if you want to get a full picture of how your hormones and glands are actually functioning? Also, what kind of tests are standard (which specific hormones)? And does anyone know the best way to kick things off... like, starting with a primary care doctor at a clinic or something?

Does anyone know how the process works for booking an appointment with an endocrinologist?
I’ve been looking online, and the waiting lists look absolutely brutal... I'm seeing places where you have to wait six months or even longer just to get seen.😲
I don't usually deal with doctors or hospitals much, so I'm honestly a bit lost here.
Is it really necessary to wait that long, even just for a consultation? I was actually planning on going on my own initiative, before this gynecologist of mine even sends me there.
If anyone knows more about this than I do, I’d really appreciate the help.

Perković is truly excellent, both as a physician and as a person. Since my professional life involves working alongside most of the endocrinologists in the field, I feel qualified to make that assessment based on a pretty solid sample size.

So, I've got an appointment at Mayo Clinic this coming Monday. My gynecologist actually referred me specifically to Dr. Pavicic, so I was wondering if anyone here has seen her before? Also, does anyone know if she focuses strictly on gynecology or if she's more of an endocrinologist?

I am reaching out to this community because I am truly in need of some guidance regarding my current health situation. To summarize: an MRI recently flagged a small, somewhat suspicious microadenoma in my pituitary gland on the right side. Additionally, I have a 7-8cm uterine fibroid located posteriorly on the left, and my TSH and progesterone levels are elevated, though most of my other hormone levels remain normal. I have follow-up bloodwork scheduled for November at the Medical Center in Ottawa to get a full picture of my pituitary and hormonal status. However, my immediate concern is this: my endocrinologist prescribed a regimen of one-quarter of a LeTroX tablet five days a week, with two rest days. I have been following this for over a month now, and I am starting to experience significant symptoms—daily headaches, high blood pressure, irritability, nervousness, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, and a complete absence of my period. This is what is really weighing on me. Is it possible that LeTroX is the culprit behind these changes? Last year, when I first discovered the fibroid back in October, my period was also delayed. My gynecologist then prescribed DABROSTON to jumpstart my cycle, which worked after seven days. It was only after that incident that I realized my hormones were off and underwent the pituitary MRI. I am honestly feeling quite lost as to whom I should consult first: my gynecologist or my endocrinologist? It is incredibly difficult to coordinate care when one doctor is based in Anthony Gomez33 and the other is in Zenica. In smaller towns like mine, finding specialists all in one location is nearly impossible. While I know I will eventually need to see both, I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with LeTroX or knows if it could specifically cause menstrual delays? Last year, my gynecologist insisted the fibroid wasn't the cause of my missed period, which is why I pursued further testing. If anyone has any insight, please let me know. I am deeply concerned.
