👎(sighs deeply and embarrassed) I just can't get this to work. Maybe I'm using a different version of Tinypic, but when I hit Brows and select my photo, instead of opening up the Host Picture option, it just prompts me to upload. Once I finish that, a new window pops up where the image is on the right and a bunch of code is on the left. I copied the entire string of code and pasted it into the post, but all I see is the raw code—no actual picture. I made sure to paste the WHOLE thing. And here's the kicker: in that second step, it doesn't say "successfully hosted," it just says "uploaded" followed by the code. When I tried to click it a second time, I couldn't even copy the code anymore. I noticed the same issue on previous posts, but back then, it wasn't showing the full code block. Honestly, I’m just a total airhead. Sorry, I need help again.🤷

^^Man, it works fine through Tinypic without any issues!! I didn't embed this specific one into an image just now, but honestly, it’s not that hard.

I think there are a few screenshots showing the actual process, let me dig them up:
-here's a post with a full breakdown

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=1...3&postcount=71

So, basically, use Brows, find the image on your computer (that Tinypic thing is strictly for images sitting on your PC!!!!), click the picture, and it pops up in that little window. You absolutely have to resize it—you've gotta adjust the dimensions before you hit upload. You'll see that option on Defaul; the max is 640x480, which is the limit allowed here on the forum.

Once you've picked those settings, click "upload now." You'll have to wait until it shows up, and then you just grab the code. If you want the actual image, pick the first code; if you just want the link, go with the second one. Copy it, head over to your post, and paste.

Double-check how the image looks before you actually hit send. It really should be there.

Alright, give it a shot.

As for grabbing images off the internet, that's a completely different ballgame. I can explain that too if you need, but I'm only hanging around for the rest of the day. 😉

Thanks, rapidrider3, but I’m spinning my wheels here. I’ve uploaded photos to other forums without any drama, yet here I am, trying again and failing miserably. I’m following the instructions to a T—that link from Maykijev is top-notch—but it's just not working. I resized the image, I copy the code image and paste it into the post, and yet, for the hundredth time, all I see is the raw code instead of the actual photo. It’s incredibly frustrating, but I refuse to let this win. The files are sitting right here on my hard drive; I'm not pulling them from some random site. 😠

This is actually hilarious—just look at these photos of little Žuža up for adoption!👍 I try to do everything by the book in my post, but all I end up with is a wall of raw code instead of any actual images.😕 Okay, maybe I’m not totally hopeless. But even then, the post just displays a dead link while this thread somehow managed to turn the link into an actual picture. Honestly, these computers seem to have a mind of their own sometimes, and they drive me absolutely insane. So, where does that leave me? Help! Why won't the photo show up in my post? For the hundredth time.

There are different types of codes out there. With one, you just end up with a dead link, but if you use the other one, you can actually use the IMG tag to embed the image directly so people can see it.

Mapokon worked because I finally realized the code doesn't actually render into an image until you hit submit. I only caught on when the picture actually showed up further down the thread. Even those "for dummies" guides don't mention that part. The code popped up instantly, but clearly, I'm just a bit slow on the uptake. Thanks to everyone for the help.

I can't be bothered to read this from the top.

Can someone just give me a straight answer: How do I upload an image from my computer into a Reddit reply? Is it even possible, and if so, how do I get around that ridiculous 10KB file size limit?😕 🤷

Oh, it's easy enough. I usually just use Tinypic, http://tinypic.com/. You just browse for the image on your PC, set the options to Defaul, pick whatever size fits, and hit Upload now. You wait for the links to pop up, grab that last link, then either drop the direct link into the post or use the icon—you know, the yellow one with the mountain—open it, paste, and hit OK. Boom. There’s your picture.

Get what I mean?

Not even close. I think I already used the phrase "keep it simple"—or rather, "embedding an image in a Reddit reply for dummies." Copying an image file directly from something like Windows Explorer and then pasting it into a "reply to topic" just doesn't work.

Why on earth make things complicated when you can just keep it simple? Honestly, some people seem to have a PhD in overthinking. 😲

It’s actually pretty simple. Honestly, at first, I thought it was going to be some massive uphill battle—like trying to climb a mountain in flip-flops—but now? Now it’s moving fast. It’s almost effortless, like typing on a mechanical keyboard when you finally find that perfect rhythm.
It just takes a bit of grit, some patience, a decent amount of willpower, and enough training hours to make it stick. Before you know it, you’ve got it down.
There’s really no other way to go about this. Using a computer? No. Not happening.
Just with those programs. That's it. Nothing else.

If you’re just grabbing an image from the web to drop into a post, the whole process is completely different. And honestly? A hell of a lot faster.
If I need to go into more detail on that, I will. Just let me know.
No big deal.
Just ask whatever’s weighing on you. Seriously. If everyone else managed to figure this stuff out, why shouldn't you? It'll happen. Eventually. 😉

I had to do this through Firefox 3.5.1 on mac OS x 10.5.7. I can't insert images in Safari. 😢
