How do I upload images and videos to the forum?

Hello,
I am quite capable of uploading an image, yet I find myself wondering if anyone might be able to guide me on how to properly resize one.
The file ends up being absolutely massive, which makes it impossible to post here on the forum without issues. Should I be handling this within Google or perhaps through Imgur (whichever service I happen to be using at the moment), or is it something I must manage within my own local photo files? I must admit, I am feeling rather lost regarding the whole process. 🙈
