Sad news

Johnny Servoz-Gavin is gone. Honestly, he was one of those Formula 1 drivers who left a way smaller footprint than his talent actually deserved... Johnny walked away from racing way too early because he was convinced—though most people think he was totally wrong about this—that his vision had gone and he just couldn't cut it anymore. He spent most of his life living a bit of a nomadic, wandering existence, basically drifting around the Mediterranean in horse-drawn wagons or something along those lines. It’s a hell of a lifestyle, I guess. He only really started popping up at vintage racing events in the last few years to break out of that isolation, but unfortunately, his health caught up with him before he could do much more. R. I. P....

I haven't heard anything about it myself, but honestly, I think he deserves a proper goodbye... He really was the precursor—or maybe the successor?—to some of our all-time favorites...

I don't want to clutter up the boards with a whole new thread, but I just found out that the legendary Peter Brock—the absolute king of Bathurst—passed away just last week. 🙂

but at least he went out behind the wheel, doing exactly what he loved, and he lived a long, full life, too.
