Aside from Brad Pitt, I just absolutely love the whole vibe of this movie..
It’s like, death suddenly decided it wanted to actually go out and experience life for once...😍

This is one of those rare films I can barely sit through until the credits roll.
Too many extreme close-ups and overly sentimental faces, not to mention the endless stretches of dramatic silence that drag the whole thing down.
The movie could have easily been titled "A Tribute to Brad Pitt."

Look, when it comes to Brad Pitt, I just can't pretend to be objective!

And why exactly is that a bad thing..? 😍

Nah, I was actually talking about the track that plays during the end credits...

Though, I gotta admit, the score throughout the movie itself is pretty damn well done too...
Just another win for this flick, I guess... 👍

I have this weird rule where I just can't stand movies about angels falling for some woman. It’s like my automatic reaction is to hate them. 🙂

The only exception? The priest's wife movie starring Cary Grant. 😁

Then what actually works for you? Something like Devil and Angel? 🙂

All I really take away from this movie is that Brad had a pretty questionable haircut 😁😁

I didn't like it. Honestly, I was bored to tears. That movie has at least 30 minutes of filler that shouldn't even be there. Like, I really don't care about watching two minutes of dead silence where Brad Pitt and that actress just stare lovingly at each other—yeah, yeah, I get it, they're in love, I caught the memo 🙄 the whole thing is just so saccharine. I've never been a fan of those Hollywood flicks where the melodrama is so over-the-top that I can practically see some heavy-set woman in the suburbs reaching for a Kleenex to wipe away rivers of tears. Give me a break. And that ending? Absolute nonsense. Even my mom, who was totally losing it by the end of the three-hour slog, snapped: "If he brings back that guy from the beginning, I'm actually done..." 😁

And don't even get me started on his hair 😁 just pure nightmare fuel

Like, seriously, who cares about watching two minutes of silence where Brad Pitt and that girl just stare at each other all sweet-like? Yeah, yeah, they're in love, I got the memo. 🙄 It’s all just so sappy. Plus, I can't stand those Hollywood flicks where the melodrama is so over the top that I can practically see some lady in a suburban living room grabbing a tissue to wipe away floods of tears. Give me a break. And the ending? Totally ridiculous. Even my mom, who was losing her mind by the end after sitting through three hours of this slog, goes, "If he brings that guy from the beginning back now, I am actually going to lose it..." 😁

And don't even get me started on his hair😁 absolute nightmare

Look, people can throw whatever complaints they want at me, but I just didn't see it that way. I wasn't sitting there trying to deconstruct every single frame; I was just enjoying the ride, and on a purely gut level, I thought it was fantastic. Plus, can we talk about Claire Forlani? I honestly couldn't take my eyes off her. At the end of the day, you know what they say—to each their own!

And let’s be real, Brad's hair was a little... much, don't you think?

👍

I'm with you there... if someone goes into a movie wanting to love it, they'll find a way to enjoy it...
if they're looking for reasons to hate it, they'll find those too...

(though, to be fair, I'll admit it leaned a bit heavy on the melodrama, and there were definitely a few scenes that should've been left on the cutting room floor...)

Yeah, yeah, they’re in love—message received. 🙄 It’s all just so incredibly sappy. I generally can't stand those Hollywood flicks where the melodrama is dialed up so high that I can practically see some middle-aged woman in a suburban living room grabbing a Kleenex to mop up a literal flood of tears. Give me a break. And that ending? Absolute garbage. Even my mom—who was ready to throw her remote at the TV after three hours of this nonsense—was like, "If he brings that guy from the beginning back now, I am officially done..." 😁

And don't even get me started on his hair. 😁 Just a total disaster.

Haha... great analysis right there.

God, I hate movies that you forget existed five minutes after the credits roll.

I caught that movie in theaters and was absolutely floored. Honestly, I haven't slept that well in years.

Honestly, I guess the whole thing was just a complete disaster.

Nobody actually realizes that Joe is death incarnate and he’s only there for Bill, yet everyone is still crying and saying their goodbyes... give me a break. No, don't tell me—I bet they were all just secretly hoping he would die.🙄

I thought the movie was good, though I feel like they overplayed certain moments. For instance, that scene where everyone rushes to say their goodbyes felt a bit off to me. It didn't really make sense—how did they all suddenly know he was leaving? There were no questions about where he was headed or if he planned to return. To me, that specific part felt poorly written and lacked logic. Aside from that one issue, however, I had no complaints. Overall, I actually quite liked the film.🍿

Dennis Torres said:Honestly, I wasn't really feeling this movie at all

The beginning was actually decent enough
Like, death just shows up out of nowhere—boom!
And honestly, Brad Pitt totally nails that role where he's just this super confused guy—I think he did a great job with it.

But man, that ending? It was absolutely nauseating..

I mean, nobody actually realizes that Joe is Death and that he's there specifically for Bill, yet everyone is just sobbing and saying their goodbyes to him.. give me a break... please don't tell me I'm supposed to guess—it's not like they actually sensed he was about to kick the bucket...🙄

And then you get to the end where that guy whose body Joe/Death took recovers, and then there's that one moment where he gets hit by a car and dies, only to suddenly find himself in a tuxedo on some lawn at a party... and my first thought is, "Okay, let me go flirt with some hot girl nearby." And boom, they fall in love instantly (well, they already fell in love back at the cafe) and they just act completely normal, like absolutely nothing insane just happened..
Aha, sure thing..🙄

And the woman, good grief.. if she had actually followed them.. it's like it never even crossed her mind (if she actually sensed her dad was dying—because that final scene where she's wailing and dancing with her dad felt less like "I'm crying because my boyfriend left" and more like "I'm crying because these are our last moments together with Dad") to just leave Joe right where he is and go check on her old man.... nope, she's got a new boyfriend to deal with instead...😵
Then, to top it all off, she tells the guy at the end, "I wish you could have met my father"—seriously, lady!!.. your dad is dead.. go find his body.. call the paramedics-- DO SOMETHING. Or is she going to spend more time showing off to the guests with her new beau (who, by the way, just undergoes a total makeover in clothes and setting and carries on like nothing ever happened)

And the scenes are just so incredibly dragged out.. they'll have the two of them staring at each other, and the camera will linger on one for 15 seconds, then the other for 20, then back to the first, then the second.. seriously, JUST GET ON WITH IT ALREADY

I've definitely seen better and "more emotional" movies than this.
