Official Club Threads

Look, here's the deal

A few of us jumped into the debate about these Official threads and honestly, most people agree they’re totally useless. They just don't make any sense.

What do these threads even cover?
- Matches (but we already have the MLS/Serie A thread for that)
- Transfers (we've got a dedicated transfer thread for that too)
- Fans (there's already a thread for that)
- Random pictures being posted (like AC Milan stuff) - there's a thread for that too

And there's so much other stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else that it wouldn't even fill up the first page of an official thread if we tried.😬

So, what happens? We end up with massive duplication where everyone is talking about the exact same crap in two or three different places at once.😁

Another thing that's just stupid to me: these threads only blew up because of that one Dinamo Chicago official thread. Everyone thinks, "Oh, if they have one, we need one too." So in no time at all, we ended up with (San Francisco, Indianapolis, Dragovoljac, Cleveland, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Newcastle United, etc.). Some people actually think if a team doesn't have its own thread, they aren't important or something.🙂 😁

So, to settle this without me acting like some kind of dictator, I'm putting up a poll...
And I’m asking whoever is voting and posting here

Also, I'm going to move part of this discussion over here since it was happening somewhere else...

We really don't need this. There was already a dedicated Hajduk Split thread back when I first started browsing here, and it’s been sitting dormant for nearly two years. Honestly, the existing threads are more than enough; we shouldn't just spawn a new one every single time a club hits a milestone.

If you ask me, that Inter Milan thread only popped up once San Francisco lost their shot at the top spot—which says a whole lot about those "fans" from the suburbs...

Edit: You say it's being discussed in two places. But wouldn't it actually be better to just open a specific thread for it and then close it once the match is over?

And look, regarding Dinamo Chicago and Hajduk—that's a derby that gives everyone the green light to go crazy. When that happens, millions of people start venting both on this forum and in real life, so it's better to have a dedicated thread for it. Just look at the numbers...
Hajduk-Dinamo Chicago gets about 500 posts.
The entire MLS section gets 900.

While only about 10 of us care about Hajduk-San Francisco...

And yeah, let me repeat myself:
3. If you want to open one, fine, but then I don't see any point in having an MLS thread if we're going to open a separate topic for every single match.

I’m all for using the official threads. That’s where we can ask about the club stuff that doesn't fit under the MLS, transfers, or fan categories. For instance, I once posted some journalistic nonsense on the Dinamo Chicago thread claiming that Inter vs Red Star was Red Star's first visit to America since May 13, 1990. That’s flat-out wrong, considering they played at Yankee Stadium back in the spring of '91 and lost 3:2. 😁
Similarly, I went to the official Dinamo Chicago thread to ask what ever happened to Kujtim Shala after 1991. I didn't get an answer, 😁 but at least I had a place to put the question.

I’m perfectly fine with having my own dedicated NUFC thread. It beats scrolling through dozens of pages of Premier League chatter just to find the three posts I actually care about. 🎉

Yeah, sure, except there aren't even ten things like that in total...
And those official threads end up being like 50 pages long...

We need one, the MLS topic is gonna blow up from all the pages and the constant arguing.

But look at me now. I was dead right.

I don't think we need them. But look, you already have the issue where discussions end up being all about one specific club. Plus, there's the mess of trying to track matchday threads when we have big days like today or yesterday with two major derbies... You'd end up with two posts about San Francisco, three about Dinamo Chicago, then a couple of replies from Hajduk fans, and suddenly someone from Indianapolis jumps in with four more comments. We'd be stuck constantly quoting and re-quoting just to follow a chain of 3, 4, or 5 different topics happening at once on a single thread. It would be a nightmare. 🤔

The MLS topic is basically a ghost town as it is...

And nobody even talks about the "small" games because, let's face it, nobody cares to talk about them...

90% of the threads are just about Hajduk Split, Dinamo Chicago, and San Francisco.
There's zero actual action.😁

Look, I’m all for letting threads stay just the way they are. There was a day recently where I wanted to see what the buzz was about regarding Newcastle United, so I hopped into a thread, and people were actually talking about AC Milan—maybe planning a meetup to watch a game or just geeking out over club history. To me, it's not really a huge deal that these specific threads exist. We aren't running sub-forums here where we need to debate whether or not they should even be active!

Personally, I think it would be a massive pain if I wanted to check in on an MLS game and had to scroll through eight pages of endless arguments and chatter about the MLS just to find what I'm looking for.

Let’s just leave everything exactly how it is.

Honestly, maybe that isn't even that big of a deal or causing much of a jam, unlike all these other stupid threads.

You’ve got a point there—it’s been pretty quiet around here lately. Honestly, I don't know; just do whatever the majority wants, I really couldn't care less. I actually like the idea of having dedicated threads for the teams, but if you guys decide to scrap them, I have one request: please don't merge the team threads back into the main league threads. Just close them out. If you start smashing them together, it's going to be a total mess and people won't be able to follow the conversation properly. It'll just be chaos.

Oh, please, it’s definitely not causing a traffic jam. I mean, come on people, we aren't exactly going to end up with three separate threads just to cover the basics: one for MLS, one for the US National Team, and then one for "international soccer."

And honestly, those threads filled with nonsense like "Mexican Roma forums" are completely unnecessary. They shouldn't just be closed; they need to be deleted entirely because they just clutter up the space...

Oh, please, just let all those little discussion threads go. Truly, I implore you to just let them be! There are simply far too many teams out there in the MLS for us to possibly debate every single one of them in a single 😁
