Go on, explain.

(to get ahead of you a bit)
Sure, there are plenty of great films out there and you can find pieces of yourself in all of them, but... sometimes a single movie just hits home. It’s like reading your own definition. Plus, she only asked for one title right off the bat, not a top 5 or top 10 list.

I feel like you’d be such an interesting subject for a quote... or, well... more like... what kind of personal connection do you actually have with this movie? Just curious... let's hear it...

If I take that "movie of my life" comment literally and actually answer—it's Ghost World.

I could watch this film every single day. Is it necessarily the finest cinematic achievement I have ever witnessed? Perhaps not. But is it mine? Absolutely.

Fascinating...
I found the movie so incredibly tedious that I actually fell asleep during my first attempt while my father was still alive... the second time, I only managed thirty minutes before giving up, and by the third time, I had to watch it in a sort of "puzzle fashion," essentially hacking the experience into pieces just so I wouldn't die of boredom by pacing around the house... basically, constantly getting up for absolutely no reason whatsoever...

But I must say, the book was truly, truly wonderful...

Honestly, I found the movie so incredibly dull that I actually fell asleep during my first attempt—and that was back when my dad was still around! The second time, I only made it through about thirty minutes before giving up. By the third try, I had to watch it in "puzzle mode"—basically just jumping around the house and getting up for totally random reasons just so I wouldn't die of boredom while watching.

But man, I absolutely loved the book!

It really is fascinating...😁
Both the book and the film are absolutely perfect in my eyes, though I think I actually prefer the movie—mostly because of Jodie Foster. She brought such incredible life to the character of Ellie...
I still get teary-eyed thinking about that scene in space... "Poetry... they should've sent a poet... no words..." 🙏

(Let me jump the gun a bit here)
Of course there are plenty of good movies out there, and sure, you might see yourself reflected in their setting, but... sometimes you just find yourself in a movie—it’s like reading your own definition of life. Plus, she only asked for one title right off the bat, not a top 5 or 10 list.

That’s exactly the point—if she’d asked for a top 10, fine. But sometimes you love a film simply because of the concept. For instance, I’m a huge fan of Truman's Show—assuming, obviously, that the acting and technical side are at least decent. But claiming you only have *one* film to your name? That just suggests you haven't watched much.

Then again, even my own watchlist isn't enough—it's tough to dig up the actual classics, and 90% of what I've seen isn't worth much.

I still get choked up thinking about that scene out in space..."Poetry... they should've sent a poet... no words..."🙏

Actually, because of her performance specifically, she didn't quite land for me in this one; there was just this sense of raw, gritty frustration radiating from her...

I agree regarding that moving scene (though that was a memory from the book, not the film—I actually missed it in the movie)
Brrr... I'm getting out of here before I lose my mind entirely...😁

I don't know, feels like you're talking about peaches while I'm talking about plums... of course you're answering from your own perspective based on how many movies you've actually sat through. Some people have seen a ton, some haven't.
Besides, with questions like this, you're trying to cram everything into a single title... frankly, for one person it's 'Meet Joe Black,' for another it's 'The Big Blue,' and for someone else, it's 'The Godfather.'

Ugh, I totally blanked on mentioning Terminator 2 😵
I swear, I’ve probably watched that movie at least 50 times by now...
