The movie is solid,
it doesn't have all that mindless slaughter like Hostel, so people mistakenly think it's bad.
🙄

Great atmosphere, too—especially considering how New Orleans was reeling from the catastrophe, which gives the whole film a really heavy, specific vibe.
👍

The movie is alright—it gets a little heavy-handed in certain spots, which can be a bit much, but man, that ending? It's absolutely phenomenal.

I honestly think the creepy score managed to mask whatever plot holes were actually there.

Caught this one because some guy at the video store suggested it, though I don't recall ever hearing anything about it. Honestly? It wasn't bad, just okay—nothing to write home about. Even for someone as jumpy as me, it wasn't exactly terrifying. 😱 The cast is solid, especially that guy Sarsgaard—hope I spelled that right—who’s got such a creepy voice you start suspecting him immediately. Anyway, at least I learned what hoodoo is. 🙂 Good ending. Plus, I'm into voodoo themes; Angel Heart is a favorite of mine.
Oh, and that record is spooky 😲

It’s an old-school, charmingly retro flick. Ian Softley proves himself to be an unpretentious yet perfectly solid director.

I thought the movie was a really 👍cool movie
. 🙂I actually liked the ending, especially how they filled in those plot holes after the big twist.

But I have one question (SPOILER!):
Is that lawyer actually inside old Ben's body? From what I could gather, it seems like 🙂it is, but I'm not totally sure.

A bit off-topic, but what is the actual point of emphasizing a spoiler warning if the text immediately following it is such a tiny, brief snippet of a spoiler? Do you honestly believe someone can pause right after those words and somehow miss what follows?

Standard practice on most forums is to color spoilers in a light shade so they are only legible if a user intentionally selects them. Much like how I’ve formatted my quote of your post here.

It comes down to self-control. 😬

The standard practice on most forums is to use spoiler tags to hide the text so it's only visible if you actually want to see it (by highlighting it). Just like how I did it in my quote of your post.

Look, I know how things are usually done 🙂
But I also know that just using bold text is enough to signal that there's a spoiler coming.
I just went with that method because I was using the quick reply and honestly, I didn't feel like messing around with color coding everything after the fact.

I’ve been chatting about this all day, and I actually spotted the Blu-ray box set at my local Best Buy earlier today. Even though I’ve known about this one for a while, now that I'm getting ready to rent some movies, I wanted to see what you all think. Is it actually worth watching, or am I just wasting my time? 👎 👍 👎 👍 👎 👍

Even though you have Kate Hudson starring and Ian Softley behind the camera (who directed K-PAX), the movie feels incredibly thin; if you're actually looking for that thick, sticky Southern voodoo atmosphere, you'd be much better off watching Angel Heart with De Niro and Rourke.

Too much melodrama, way too much soap opera.

So if you think a De Niro playing some guy devouring a fried egg is enough to impress you, then I suppose you’re the type who thinks Armageddon is the height of cinema...

Haven't seen this one in ages. It’s a solid flick, nothing more and nothing less. Definitely has its creepy moments. That veteran Gene Rowlands really caught me off guard—great performance.
