Personally, I think the second one might actually be slightly better

especially those first 10 minutes... man, that was totally unexpected

we're just sitting there watching the movie, or rather, watching how Wes Craven seems to just have a blast parodying his own style😁

if you consider what First Scream did for the horror genre, I feel like the sequel did it even better—by poking fun at all those typical sequels

the only thing is, the ending is kind of a mess...

well, maybe not if you're looking at it through the lens of a standard sequel, I guess😉

Oh, absolutely... that death right in front of the audience, that scream... it was intense. 😈 And that play was actually quite clever, though I can't recall the exact title of the drama at this moment. 😳
When I really sit back and think about it, the sequel actually holds some truly excellent moments.

Honestly, it’s a bit of both...

If you find it lacking, why not provide some actual substance? Please, offer an argument.

SOOOO good 👍 👍 👍 👍

Just watched it after a long time, and honestly, it hasn't lost an ounce of its quality. I actually picked up on a few little details I missed before...

Then I went ahead and watched the sequel, and man, it was freaking awesome too!!!!!! It’s actually even more intense than the first one!!!!! 👋 That scene with Gale & Dewey :brrrr: :horror: And that part in the car.... ah. Man, there's a lot to unpack there.... 😁

Gale & Dewey, I LOVE THEM 😍

I really should have watched the third one sooner. I think it's a bit weaker overall, but it's still great—I love it 😁 It has a slightly more open sense of humor, and honestly, there are some legendary scenes in there... Dewey & the knife 😂 ah, just thinking about it gives me chills....

The third one is packed with so many references; the more I watch it, the more I enjoy it. 😍

Adam Harris7 said:Do you see it as just another slasher, or do you think it's a more significant moment for the genre (like Friday the 13th or Halloween)?

It's a major moment in film culture, period. Kevin Williamson wrote an incredible script, and Wes Craven brought it all to life perfectly....

Adam Harris7 said:How much do you appreciate Scream?

I love it to death : D

Otherwise, Halloween feels so repetitive... maybe the second one is a bit better.... but I couldn't even bring myself to watch Friday the 16th... Scream is just so wonderfully dynamic : D

Alright, let me start a new thread.😁

Just watching Scream 3 on Max—they had the second one on last weekend, but not the first one. 😢 )
Anyway, it was honestly great to revisit this after not watching for a few years...
All in all—this is easily one of my favorite horror flicks.😍

First Scream is a masterpiece—easily one of the best films of the nineties. I still remember how blown away my friends and I were walking out of the local theater in Washington, D.C. It was summer, August 1996.

I’m going with Scream 3. It’s the best one because of all the funny nods to the earlier movies and that killer reveal was such a shock.

Yeah, I'm with you on that—the first one is an absolute masterpiece. I didn't catch it in theaters back then; watched it on VHS instead and was totally blown away.

They just don't make 😁 movies like they used to
—they simply lack the vision and the guts nowadays.

Man, this movie was absolute gold back in its day. It basically defined the whole 90s slasher era—honestly, I don’t think anything since has even come close. Not that anyone seems to care about the genre anymore, apparently... :/ The way it poked fun at all those tired horror clichés was just spot on.

I still remember watching this with my buddies—the tension in the room was unreal. To be honest, most of the sequels felt like total garbage to me. Maybe the second one could hold its own, but after that? Forget it. I can't even remember a single one besides the original, lol. I don't even recall the latest one, which is pretty tragic considering how recent it is. I guess it was just so "good" that my brain decided to just block it out entirely.

The movie arrived just when the genre was starting to feel completely exhausted by a mountain of derivative clones and endless, mindless sequels. After Scream, it’s been incredibly rare to see a purebred slasher manage to make an impact quite like that.

Once they set a release date for the sequel, they pushed Titanic to a different slot just because they were terrified of the competition. 😁 And honestly, I bet every single one of those actors signed their contracts for the second film without even glancing at the script.

For me, the sequel is actually right up there with the original, but they probably didn't even need a third one—still, I guess they had to finish the trilogy🤷

aha. 🙂 Scream was a total phenomenon back then—mostly because horror wasn't mainstream yet, and most flicks were just low-budget B-movies featuring nobody you'd ever recognize.

They basically used anonymous extras because that was just the easiest way to break into the industry back then.

I mean, after the third installment, Neve Campbell says she’ll never do a fourth one... and then, lo and behold, she ends up filming the fourth movie.
Maybe she just got bored with all those other projects—you know, like that one where everyone was wondering who sank Mona.😁

Rumors have been flying for a minute now that Wes Craven is cooking up a new TV series based on the classic slasher scream. I mean, if you haven't seen that movie at least a dozen times, you haven't lived. It’s no surprise he’d want to spin this into a show.

Back in the day, scream was huge—basically the gold standard for scares in theaters. We saw a similar vibe when they did stuff like Teen Wolf.

Is this actually gonna be good? Who knows. We'll just have to wait until the pilot finally hits MTV.
