I don't really get why people are picking fights over how to watch football—and especially why they're getting insulting about it.
To me, Stam was never a classy player—not back when he was at Manchester United and certainly not by today's standards. I mean, credit where it's due, the guy knows how to play, but he’s slow and just plain brutal...

Look, the whole point of this thread wasn't me claiming Carragher is the best defender on the planet—because let’s be real, he isn't. I'm not delusional. What I was actually trying to get across is how much he's stepped up over the last year. He's evolved. If you look at his game right now, he’s become one of the most reliable guys on the backline. I'm not saying he's been the undisputed king of defenders for the last decade, but looking at his form today, this season, and especially these last few months? At least here in England, he's been incredibly solid.

These numbers just back up exactly what I’ve been saying all along. Look, stats aren't everything, but if you actually sat down and watched that last Liverpool vs Chelsea match, you’d see the truth. I mean, how many times did Carragher have to carry the ball out of his own penalty area? He was even outrunning a fresh Robben in the 92nd minute while on the ball. But apparently, for some people—and I’m looking directly at you, nimblemarlin17—that’s still not enough to earn a "hey, the kid has improved." It seems like certain fans won't give a defender any credit unless he stops ten different attacks in one game or pulls off some miracle 35-yard screamer into the top corner.

I've got my own way of looking at things. To each their own, I guess. 😉
