I forgot to mention one thing: patients are just as much to blame here. They roll into the clinic expecting a magic pill to fix everything instantly. Honestly, if half of them actually took care of themselves, they wouldn't even need to see a doctor in the first place. So you have this patient with a viral infection, the doctor is stumped, and they just throw an antibiotic at them so the patient stays quiet and feels like they're actually doing something. It might even "work" sometimes due to the placebo effect—which is basically how half of these drugs function anyway. In a lot of cases, you don't need a prescription; you just need a better attitude.
Exactly. Today is even worse for me. Fever is climbing higher. My chest hurts. I feel nauseous and can't even look at food. 😢
