Hi there. My 4-year-old has been diagnosed with meningococcal sepsis, and the doctor mentioned there are still 50,000 pus cells present. I'm really worriedβ€”what does that actually mean in terms of severity? Is that number considered critical? If anyone has experience with this or can explain, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I originally posted this on RiD, but since I’m looking for some actual expert insight here, I’d appreciate some help over πŸ™‚

You really have to draw a line between sepsis and septic shock. It’s that second oneβ€”the shockβ€”that explains those sudden, tragic deaths you've been seeing all over the news lately.
I mean, obviously, you shouldn't brush off regular sepsis either, but if someone's been fighting it for a while and they're already on heavy-duty antibiotics, the prognosis for standard sepsis, even with meningococcal, is generally much better than when it spirals into full-blown septic shock.

Hey everyone.
About five months ago, I underwent spinal surgery, and during the procedure, I ended up contracting bacterial meningitis. I was on a heavy course of antibiotics for 21 days, but the aftermath is still lingering. I’m dealing with these persistent headaches that just won't quit. I've been trying Tylenol and Advil, but honestly, they aren't doing a thing. Because of the pain, my sleep has become almost non-existent; I'm barely getting any rest at all.
Has anyone here gone through something similar, or perhaps found something that actually works, that might offer some advice?
If not, is there a specific forum or community dedicated to these kinds of neurological issues where I might find more specialized information?
Thanks!

Hey everyone!
So, here’s the deal. If I was hanging out with someone who has meningococcal sepsisβ€”and just so you know, I’m already on antibiotics myselfβ€”do the people I was with also need to start taking them too?
Thanks!
