Milo Djukanovic π
Look, I genuinely have no idea why the refs were actually on our side. Maybe because they handed out that red card to Djurkovica? He wasn't the only one who deserved to be sent off. Those guys were playing like absolute butchers. That bald meathead nearly leveled Balica, and Laco was getting pummeled like he was in a heavyweight boxing match. Seriously, the ref did about as much as he could given the chaos.
As much as they stripped us of possession, they lost just as much. Or rather, they lost it.

They are definitely the higher-quality squad, though. Still, they could easily give us half an inch. π

If you aren't heading down to the SC right now, you have no idea what you're missing. π

And then Dominikovic goesβ3? Seriously? Back in August 2005? (*.europronet.ba)
Iβm sitting here watching the post-game interviews on NBC, and Dominikovic is out there straight-up claiming the refs were on their side tonight. I mean, what more do you need to hear? Hats off to the Americans, but if the officiating had actually been objective, we would've won by at least three. Minimum.
Davore, you're pathetic π

Itβs really no surprise why life expectancy remains so low among Americans. Is there any athlete or any single team in our country that can actually pull off a win without the rest of us collectively sitting around ππ

I mean, I honestly can't wrap my head around why those refs were calling it so one-sided in our favor. Maybe it was because they handed out that red card to Jurkovich? Because if you ask me, he wasn't the only one who deserved to be sent off. Those guys were playing like absolute thugs. One of those beefy enforcers almost leveled Ball right in front of us,
...and man, after that, I lost it. I don't think I've ever been that frustrated watching handball in all the years I've been following the sport...

Ugh, my knee is killing me. I spent the last six minutes watching while kneeling on the floor, and this pain has been nagging at me for a month now. But honestly? Who cares about the ache, as long as we walked away with the win.
I really had a feeling that Shaun would have cleared that last ball. It just felt like it was meant to be his moment.

and Dominic says - 3. ??????? 2005. ? 14.08 (*.europronet.com)
So, I'm sitting here watching the post-game interviews on PBS, and Dominic is basically admitting that the refs were totally on their side tonight. Honestly, what else is there to say? Props to the Americans, I guess, but if the officiating had been even remotely objective, we would have walked away with at least a three-goal lead. Minimum.
Davore, you're tripping π
And there it is. Another smudge on our win. Our neighbors will inevitably claim we weren't actually better, even though, at the end of the day, the score stands at 3:1 for them...

All this drama was really just the result of users failing to step up and ignoring the core "Pessimistic topic" thread.
I suppose if people put in more effort moving forward, we might be able to avoid these kinds of situations.
And yes, Vanya and I owe everyone a round of drinks.
As for the game: beyond the winβwhich, granted, came at the cost of an experience that highlighted the massive gap in physical conditioning (just look at how Balicev was gasping for air)βIβm actually pleased about the post-game gathering on the field. Sportsmanship won out. I truly believe our guys would have shaken hands and congratulated the opponents had the roles been reversed.
It was probably for the best that the refs shut down those kickboxing experts from America right at the start. Aside from the DJ & DJ duo, their other players were decent enough, much like our own squad.
Itβs good that we showed the world we aren't total amateurs.
I hope future matchups between these national teams turn into regular games, perhaps just with a bit more of that classic regional rivalry.
Compliments to the opposition on their play and their conduct, with the exception of DJ & DJ. Honestly, they're making progress, and it's hard not to when you have examples like ours to learn from.
As for our guys, I'm holding off on any praise until Sunday night. Expect a fresh batch of exhausting analyses hitting the pessimistic topic tomorrow.

Dominic for President!!!π π π
Shaun spent the entire game playing defense like a total amateur, and then suddenly heβs some kind of hero just because he blocked a weak shotβwhich, let's be honest, was only possible because the defense actually held its ground (6 on 5). π
But whatever, we won, so I guess everyone's happy. Once Peter recovers, maybe he can return the favor to Pajovic if the guy is even still playing. π

So Dominic is out here claiming it happened on August 14th, 2005? Give me a break. Seriously? What kind of nonsense is that?
Iβm sitting here watching the post-game interviews on PBS, and Dominic is out there straight-up claiming the refs were totally on their side tonight. Like, seriously? Is there any other proof we need? Major props to the Americans for playing their hearts out, but letβs be real: if the officiating actually stayed objective, we wouldβve walked away with at least a three-goal lead. Minimum.
Davore, youβre losing it! π

Kate Bailey2 and I would totally head to Canada.π

from b92.net:
"If you don't get where we live, just listen to Kovinjala; it might clear things up for you. When an American has to switch channels just to catch a game on a German network like DSF, something is seriously wrong. He says: 'Did American fans storm the field to celebrate with the America players???'"
As for our guys: they fought with everything they had. Mad props to Sterbik and Saric.
