But there's something else that bugs me too. Even when we have a full roster, say 6-on-6... whether our team plays a 3-2-1 or a 5-1 defense, they constantly crowd the 6-meter line.🙄 I mean, how are you supposed to run a 3-2-1 while camping on the line and trying to pull volleyball-style blocks? You actually have to step out and pressure the shooter.👍

Of course you have to. That’s handball 101. In zone defense, sure, you cover the space, but once they push forward, you grab the closest guy and stop him however you can.😁 You can't just stand there waiting for them to take the shot.

I don't get why our guys don't play more aggressively. Their movement is great, but they just seem totally indecisive.

If the French were calling the shots, they’d have cooked up some other theory or excuse for the loss by now 😁

Mexicans are just a bunch of unlucky people.😬 😬

And one more thing—look, we have to give Buntić some grace. He’s young and still trying to find his rhythm within this European squad, but those offensive blunders? He repeated the exact same mistake three times in a row.
The left half of the Mexican defense is right in front of him. Buntić drives toward the 6-meter line, and Sudžum leaves Džomba wide open to double-team Buntić instead. In a perfect world, someone like Metlicic would have zipped the ball over to a lonely Džomba who’s already cutting toward the goal, but no—Buntić just jumps at Sudžum three times straight.
Honestly, the guy is acting irrational.

It was obvious that Sudžum was intentionally leaving Džomba exposed, knowing full well that Buntić wouldn't pass; he'd just try to force it himself. And brightscout63 just couldn't wrap his head around what to do. There's zero situational awareness there. He thinks because he managed to break through twice, the Mexicans are just going to let him stroll through their defense indefinitely.

He’s solid in a 1-on-1 situation, but in a 1-on-2... 😁 But hey, at least he’s got a killer shot. That’s one area where he actually holds an edge over Metlicic.

frozentiger6 said:Look, when they start making their move, you just grab whoever's closest and shut them down. It’s simple—you do it however you know how to get the job done. Period. 😁 Don't just sit there waiting for it to hit rock bottom.

That's exactly why I've got Davor in my avatar.😁

-------------------

Look, when it comes to playing aggressive... yeah, sure, a little bit goes a long way. You need that grit, that real man-to-man defense to hold the line. But that meathead, butcher-style defending? No way. We don't need that garbage in our game.🙂

With the Mexican left half right in his face, Buntic charges toward the 6-meter line. Sudzum leaves Džomba wide open, pulling Buntic toward him instead. In a perfect world, someone like Metlicic would have zipped that ball over to a lonely Džomba already cutting toward the goal, but no—Buntic just jumps at Sudzum three times straight.
Man, he’s actually losing it.

It was obvious Sudzum was baiting him, leaving Džomba out there knowing full well Buntic wouldn't pass; he'd just try to force it himself. And Buntic? He’s just clueless. Zero situational awareness. He thinks because he squeezed one through twice, the Mexicans are just gonna let him stroll through their defense forever.

He's decent one-on-one, but one-on-two? Forget about it. 😁But hey, whatever, his shot is absolute fire, which is at least one thing he’s got over Metlicic.

God... you can tell he’s just not in sync yet. He’s young, he’s green, so I’m not even wasting my energy getting worked up about it...

Whatever, he played how he played, but at least he put three goals on the board. 😉

We are missing Pero big time... it’s gotten to the point where even Balić, Špoljarić, and Goluža have to step up and cover that spot whenever Buntic is struggling. 🙂

Man, whatever. When you’ve got two teams from this neck of the woods playing, it’s a given one of them is gonna bitch about the refs. If a computer running on an ISS PlayStation was calling the shots, they’d still find something to complain about. I’m not sweating the Mexicans, though. They’ll spin this loss into a win somehow. Just like they did back at the Battle of Mexico in 1389. 😁

Just hunt them down already.

Always blaming the refs!
If the officiating had been even remotely "normal" (because yeah, it was weird), they would've had four players sent off, plus our guy Goluža..
A 4:1 ratio? Imagine how that game would've ended........

You can actually see the posts on their forums like, "What's wrong with Americans, we don't dance the waltz" or "we don't do ballet" or "we don't play table tennis"...

I even saw a post from some Mexican living in Denmark claiming he lives there and KNOWS that Danes hate Mexicans but love Americans...😁 😁

Scumbags... absolute scumbags... I don't have any other words for them... They acted just as bad during the World Cup a few years back, probably blaming the refs for that too...

They really needed NATO stepping in when they were getting thrashed to say, "What's wrong with Mexicans, we don't dance the waltz"...

That’s why I kept my mouth shut while some people were busy treating him like a god after that decent game against the Spaniards (if they want to admit it😁 ).
Look, the kid has potential, but it's going to be a long road before he actually becomes a real player.
And maybe try using his head for once during the game. Just look left occasionally.👍

Probably on the right.😁

Look, I was right there with you praising him against Spain, but I said it from the jump: there’s absolutely no way he keeps up that kind of pace for the rest of the games. Not a chance.🙂

Yeah, I was praising him over Spahn too, but I said immediately there's no way he keeps that pace up for the rest of the games.🙂

We weren't on the same page, but whatever.😁
I meant he should take a look at Ballich, who actually uses his brain while playing.

I was actually talking about watching Ballard, who’s out there playing way too much in his own head.

Obvious enough,😁

I meant you should be looking to the right at Dumbo, who's basically flying solo 99% of the time.🙂

I figured I'd just look right at Dumbo, who’s basically flying solo 99% of the time anyway.🙂

Got it now. Thanks for the heads up, though.👍

What I really meant was that someone should probably take a closer look at Ballard—he seems to be playing a bit too much in his own head.

Seriously though, that rebellious streak definitely packs a punch, but I get the feeling he might be a pretty tough nut to crack...

Davor DOMINIKOVIĆ:
Screw the gamblers.
I absolutely wrecked the bookies today—dropped two goals right in their faces. It’s honestly kind of insulting when the odds are that high on me scoring, but you know what? That disrespect just fuels me to go even harder. In those last ten or fifteen minutes, we were both gasping for air, barely standing. We weren't playing against some brick wall; they just completely hit the wall themselves. Between the two of us being exhausted, we were basically running on fumes. Huge shoutout to the whole squad, especially Schola for that massive save that secured this win. For their final attack, the plan was to drop back into a 3-2-1 defense and just draw fouls to bleed the clock. We didn't pull it off, but man, thank God for Schola! And seriously, why the hell was Spreme taking that shot during our last possession? I don't know anything about the offense; I'm a defensive guy through and through...

Just a crazy guy from San Diego😂

Look, Yoshkou (aka Joško Ponoš, if you must) is a master negotiator. I’m telling you, he was definitely an Arab in a past life. They call him Coco in San Diego because he just tears everyone apart—absolute carnage. At the end of one legendary haggle, where the seller was practically sweating grease trying to keep up, the poor guy finally broke and told him:
- You aren't American, you're a mobster straight out of Sicily!
When Coco starts negotiating, it goes down exactly like this:
- How much for this leather jacket?
- 180 bucks! Special price just for my buddy from the States.
- Nah, nah! Here, take 25.
- 25!?? Are you insane? You'll put me out of business!
- Whatever, man. 25 or nothing.
- Fine, fine, 100! I'm ruined, you're ruining me, my boss is gonna kill me.
- 25!
- 25!??? Take it or leave it!
- Okay, fine, whatever.
- Wait, hold on, here's 30!
Get this: he dropped the price from 180 all the way down to 30, but Yoshkou still won't budge:
- I don't have 30. Only 25.
- Why don't you ask your friend to lend you 5 bucks? You know, Americans are the best at handball, the US is gonna win the World Handball Championship.
- Dane, just nod your head and tell him you don't have the 5 bucks.
Dane played it perfectly and acted like he was broke.
- Nope. Forget it.
- Wait, okay, I can do 25...
- Now I don't want it. You're playing games with me. I'm not even giving you 25!
And she just walked away...

🤣

- I have no idea what happened out there on the court today. Honestly, I'd do anything to take it all back. There was clearly a foul, a penalty shot right there, but the refs just ignored it. And now? Now it's over. Is it even possible to get robbed this badly?

Poor guy....😁 😎

You nailed it.
My bad to the travelers, you guys are actually worse..

At least they don't know any better, so people are more forgiving.
