The Godfather: Part II

Look, I haven't even watched it yet, so I know you're gonna tell me how I can't really comment on it—but honestly? It looks super forced. I'm probably gonna skip this one.

I'm with you on those first two. Haven't seen the third one yet... Pacino is obviously great, but De Niro and Brando are just on another level (hard not to be biased, right? 😁 )

Caught the third part on TV yesterday. Yeah, I’m watching this nineteen years late, but honestly, I watched the first two way later than they were actually made too... because, you know, I wasn't exactly alive yet. Am I a vampire or something?!

Good grief, what a disaster of a movie. Where was the brainpower? Seriously, both Mario and Francis Ford Coppola should have known better. It's just recycled directing and entire sequences ripped off. And making Tony the successor to Michael... please. The acting feels like some low-budget US-international co-production. Zero drama. And that final scene—wtf? Just more recycling from the original parts. Even the couch designers had more talent behind the scenes. Oh, and that whole bit with the cousins? Completely useless, or if you want to be nice, just incredibly wasted. This movie is trash.

In my opinion, The Godfather Part II actually surpassed the original. As for the third installment, it falls far short of the first two and feels entirely unnecessary.

I’ll concede that it doesn't quite hit the heights of the first two, but calling it "unnecessary" is a massive stretch. To me, the director provided a masterful conclusion to the entire saga involving the Corleone family and Michael himself. It is a truly superb piece of cinema that remains far too underrated. It deserves much more credit than it gets...

The Godfather is pretty much the only movie that actually beats the book.👍

The third one definitely doesn't hit quite as hard as the first two—it’s a bit of a step down, I guess—but calling it "bad" feels like a stretch... there are actually some really solid moments in there if you look closely...

Can someone remind me which scenes actually wrap up The Godfather Part II? I’ve got a version on my computer that feels a bit cut short, and I can't quite recall how the movie ended when I saw it on TV.
