What’s so funny? It’s pretty obvious you didn't watch the '94 World Cup. Or the Olympics in Atlanta. Or even the two Women's World Cups. You don't see unsold tickets at those kinds of events. Back in '94, they were averaging 68,000 people. Meanwhile, over in Europe, some of the stadiums at the EP are looking half-empty during matches.

Please. At the closing ceremony for those games, even the OO president at the time—Samaranch—didn't claim they were the best ever. The US totally tanked it.

He couldn't say that because of that whole bombing mess and the voting scandal. Seventy thousand people watched that soccer final. That’s my context. And after that disaster in Athens, it's hard to give any organizer much credit. Especially when it comes to Olympics held in the US. Sure, they're the only ones with enough cash to actually pull off something perfect... 😁

Meanwhile, over in Europe, you see half-empty stadiums during some EC matches.

It's true, the stadiums at the Women's WC were completely packed.

But I suppose one thing puzzles me—just how much money are sponsors actually bleeding these clubs dry for to get them there? Because I'm fairly certain an AC Milan vs. Manchester United match would fill up Yankee Stadium or the Rose Bowl without any trouble. We'd just need to find enough cash to pay them.🙄

Nah, he said it because those Olympics were a total circus. I don't know if you recall, but every single headline started with disaster... fiasco... madness.... The US looked pretty bad back then. They didn't really redeem themselves until Salt Lake City.
You're kind of obsessed with Americans...

It’s honestly surreal living in this absolute mess called America. I spent two months out there and was genuinely blown away by their sports scene. When it comes to athletics, they are two millennia ahead of us. We just survive on these random flashes of individual brilliance instead of actually doing the work.

And let’s be real—how is an AC Milan-Manchester United matchup ever going to pack out the Rose Bowl or Yankee Stadium when Yankee Stadium couldn't even fill the seats back when they were playing Milan or Manchester United?

Please, don't even compare them to us!
It really bugs 😁 me when you claim the vibe at American stadiums is better than, say, the European Championship. For me, a packed stadium in England or Italy with 30,000 people will always beat a massive crowd of 150,000 at the Rose Bowl. At least people here actually cheer. Over there, all you hear is:
munch munch, crunch crunch, woo!, yeah!, munch munch...

Those are just prejudices. Especially for us Europeans. During a Euro classic, they make a little noise at the start and then everyone just goes silent. The only ones who sing the whole time are the English, constantly chanting that same old "Na nananana, England" nonsense. That isn't even real cheering. Those crazy Korean fans were way better. You could actually tell they were obsessed with football.

Hardly. A buddy of mine caught a few baseball games in St. Louis. Says about 75% of the time, absolutely nothing is happening. People are just snacking, strolling around, and chilling, then suddenly someone yells and the whole stadium jumps up to cheer. Half the crowd doesn't even know what just happened. 😁

My friend's always complaining, but I actually buy it. 😁

It’s easy for them to pull those numbers when they have a population of 250 million backing them up.😁>

Sure, but they aren't all concentrated in one spot. 😁

And where on earth did you get baseball from, brightscout63? That sport is basically built for nerds and guys selling peanuts in the stands. There’s no real atmosphere at a baseball game by definition. You can't compare it to soccer. Take American football—the energy is incredible, especially during the season when home-field advantage actually matters. You even get those massive stadium shows. 😁

Honestly, last night was just pathetic. Both teams looked completely lost out there. The matchup between the Lakers and the Celtics was five times better than this garbage. 😁

Look, I pretty much know most of the rules. The only things people actually fight about is whether a guy got ejected or if it was a ball or a strike. 😁

Honestly, those tournaments held across the US and Asia where the "big names" show up just to rake in the cash aren't even worth your time, you can just skip them entirely, because why bother? But seriously, what on earth was that tonight? What is even happening with this Manchester United squad... I mean, what kind of game was that? If I were some random guy living in the States, I’d probably start thinking soccer is the most mind-numbingly boring sport on the planet after watching a performance like that.

And just one little request—please, for the love of everything, stop comparing those hardcore fans over in Europe to these soft American pushovers... honestly, that comparison isn't even funny.
