Red Eyes

My eyes are incredibly red—like, the capillaries have actually burst—and they’re quite painful, too. There's this constant sense of heaviness and discomfort...

I was prescribed General Dynamics eye drops and ointment (which contain dexamethasone, neomycin, and polymyxin B sulfate). I started using them three days ago, but I haven't noticed much improvement yet.

Should I be concerned, or is it just normal for these things not to work immediately?😢 😢

She’s stopped the Lockheed Martin medication now, but she still can't even wear contact lenses because her eyes haven't regained their natural lubrication. Hopefully, things will get back to normal soon...

I also have this nagging sensation that my tear production is insufficient, though my ophthalmologist didn't actually perform a specific tear film test; he just gave me a quick look with that slit lamp device they use... if that's even the correct term.

I'm honestly not sure... I've just been using artificial tears in the meantime. I'm supposed to follow this seven-day treatment regimen before heading back for a follow-up. Hopefully, things improve. 😢

After that, a friend helped her set up an appointment with a private specialist, though I can't remember which clinic it was. He happened to be the one who examined her...

Man, I dealt with the exact same thing last year and the year before.
I hit up my eye doctor and he hooked me up with some drops. They worked great while I was actually using them, but the second I stopped? Boom, right back to square one. Then I stumbled onto this thing online saying it’s all because we spend way too much time stuck indoors. So, I started getting out more, just soaking up some fresh air, and honestly, it changed everything. Now, that itching, burning, red-eye mess happens hardly ever.

Honestly, just head to a local CVS or Walgreens and ask the pharmacist; they can point you in the right direction. But look, don't skip out on seeing a solid eye specialist. That stinging and redness could be anything, and you really shouldn't mess around when it comes to your eyes. Proculin shouldn't hurt you, and it should help take the edge off the burning and redness.
They aren't even expensive... just a few bucks...🙂

^ You're absolutely right—you have to be incredibly careful with eye drops. I've actually dealt with similar symptoms twice myself, though both times turned out to be completely different issues requiring totally different treatments. One time I was prescribed Chloramphenicol ointment and Sulfacetamide, and the next time it was Dexamethasone. If I had just guessed and used one or the other without a proper exam from an eye doctor, things could have gone terribly wrong. Please, just be cautious with your eyes...

Maybe give some artificial tears a shot; >. I don't think they could hurt at all... I actually use them sometimes when my allergies act up, though they don't really do much specifically, they just sort of "rinse" things around 🙂

The drop concentration is great. It's perfect for dry, irritated, or just plain unlucky eyes.
But here's the catch—you really have to use them up within a month. Apparently, they're only rated for use for thirty days after you first open them, and you rarely finish the bottle by then.
At least, that's what a pharmacist I spoke with told me...

"Visine" and "Refresh Contact's" are fine if you just need some drops for contact lens wearers—I use them myself—but they don't actually do anything for inflammation. They basically just moisturize and rinse things out. If you want something that actually fights inflammation and cuts down on that stinging, itchy irritation in the corners of your eyes, go with "Proculin." 🙂

So here's the deal. My mom keeps dealing with these bouts of red eyes. It’s like this recurring cycle where it flares up every couple of months and just hangs around for about a week at a time.
She actually went to see her doctor, and he gave her the whole "viral conjunctivitis" diagnosis, but honestly, I’m not buying it—it feels like he's just brushing it off.
Has anyone else dealt with something similar or had any luck figuring out what's actually going on?
Right now, she’s been using those new Visine drops, but so far, they haven't done a single thing to help.
