Ford said:We all remember that moment with David when Michael Schumacher was trying to lap him, and he just slowed down to 30 mph on purpose to force the collision...
He really showed his true colors out there in the rain....

But Michael Schumacher absolutely wrecked him in Monaco after David gave him "The finger." Honestly, seeing him brake intentionally like that was pretty satisfying.

He wasn't doing 30. He slammed on the brakes on a straightaway and dropped from 200 down to 50 in a heartbeat. 😠

Raymond Carter2 said:I don't see why that's an issue. Everyone knows Michael Schumacher is probably the best driver out there when it starts pouring rain (if that's what you mean).

I wasn't even talking about Michael Schumacher, I was talking about the sheer stress that comes with the rain...

You know how it goes... you put on rain tires and suddenly the sun is blasting through the clouds... or you go with intermediates and then the sky just opens up on you.🙂 Just think back to that absolute madness in the USA 2003 Microsoft race.

God damn it.

Dammit.

I can't even remember that race....

The rain came down and half the field wiped out (Michael Schumacher included)... Then they ended up red-flagging the whole thing after Fernando Alonso slammed into Mark Webber. A week later, they finally declared Trulli the winner.

He really showed his grit out there in the rain...

If we're going to judge based on just one race, let's look back at last season when both Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher showed what they were made of in the rain at the US Grand Prix, resulting in both McLarens scoring points. Kimi Räikkönen took second. You really can't judge someone by a single outing. Since then, David has made massive strides—after all, he’s spent the last two seasons practicing on waterlogged tracks.

It wasn't braking, though—he just lifted off the throttle.
Those are two very different things, aren't they?
I remember back last year at the Nürburgring when Trulli did that to him (or maybe it was Fernando Alonso, I can't quite recall), and he went right off the track. That’s when he finally realized what he had done to Michael Schumacher back then.

The rain started falling and half the crew spun out (including Michael Schumacher)... Later, the race was red-flagged after Alonso charged into Mark Webber, and Trulli was eventually declared the winner a week later.

Just a quick correction to that inaccurate account:

Giancarlo Fisichella was actually the one declared the winner, which stood as one of those rare moments where Jordan actually finished in the points, let alone secured such a rare victory.

Just look at what happened last year at the Nürburgring when Trulli did that to him (or maybe it was Alonso, I can't remember), and he spun right off the track. He finally realized exactly what he'd done to Michael back then.

And what do you think happens when you're leading the pack, flying at 200 mph, and you decide to "lift off" while there's a car breathing down your neck just inches behind you... especially when it starts raining?

Correction to an error:
Giancarlo Fisichella was declared the winner, which was one of those rare times Jordan actually scored points, let alone won.

True, my bad.🙂

They always run testing on the McLaren car before the season kicks off over in Spain, where the track is usually absolutely soaked.👍

It honestly feels like he’d get way more out of testing on a dry track... I mean, it didn't even rain back in England.😢
I guess we should just be glad he isn't testing in a blizzard instead.🙂

I'm just glad they aren't testing in the snow instead.🙂

Though, I have to say, snow races would probably be the most exciting ones to watch. In those conditions, there's a 90% chance an American driver takes the win. And wouldn't you know it? Kimi Raikkonen is American.😁

Then they wouldn't be allowed to go over 93 miles/h. Would you even find that interesting? If you want to watch racing on snow, go watch NASCAR.
