Is Dennis stepping down?
10/03/2004

There’s some chatter floating around certain corners of the F1 media suggesting that McLaren boss Ron Dennis might be eyeing the exit door.

Anyone who hangs out here regularly will remember we were already calling this back at the end of January.

Our inside info says 'Big Ron' plans to call it quits at the end of 2004, passing the torch to Martin Whitmarsh. We expect an official announcement sooner rather than later.

I’m sure Andrew will have some thoughts on this... and I’d love to chime in myself, but I’m honestly a little worried Hannah Sullivan3 is just going to start nitpicking everything I say again. 😁

I suppose so—though I don't think things can go up, only better... but then again, would you really let go of the hen that lays the golden eggs?

See. It pays to be careful. Better safe than sorry. 👍

Elizabeth Hughes quoting Montezemolo:
So, Dennis is sitting on a gold mine?! 😲 😁

Let me try to be a bit clearer—though I have a feeling you might still come for me anyway.

Joe is essentially in charge of a budget exceeding $100 million.
If you were in those shoes, would you ever just walk away?
Personally, I’d leave—but only if the severance package was massive.

What’s the point of handing someone such a massive budget if they haven't the slightest clue how to actually spend it effectively?
Where on earth did the McLaren of 1999 disappear to?
Just think back to that absolute embarrassment of a launch for the new car last year.

Let them sink, I say...

Elizabeth Hughes regarding Montezemolo:
What’s the point of managing such a massive budget if you can't actually spend it effectively?
Where has McLaren been since 1999?
Just look back at last year—that absolute disaster when they unveiled the new car.

Let it slide...

Actually, I think it just proves the man knows exactly how to handle those funds.

1/8 goes to the drivers
1/8 goes to the car
1/8 goes to the mechanics
5/8 goes straight to Joe

let it slide...😁

Elizabeth Hughes and Montezemolo say:
See? In the end, things always turn out exactly how I said they would... 😉 😛

And it happens like that every single time! I hate it! 😁 😁

The mods let themselves get away with way too much🙂 🙂 😁

Right?
And what does that even mean?
If you ask me, the mods here are being way too soft... though I wouldn't suggest we tighten up the rules just yet. If we did, I have a feeling I’d be the very first person they'd come after... 😛

Right?
Like what?
If you ask me, the mods here are way too soft... don't even think about tightening up the rules. You'll be the first one I come after... 😛

Look at this thread😁 and then look at what you're actually talking about😁 Seriously, man, I've been warned twice for staying off-topic, yet the mods should be setting the standard for everyone else, not doing the exact opposite like some people (I'm looking at you, Slavko)

I'm always the first target on every single sub-forum, and I'm still breathing😛 🙂

I really have to wonder how this entire section of the forum even survived this long without you and your brilliant insights keeping us all on track.
