So, a nasty case of strep throat finally caught up with me, and I know exactly where I messed up...😠 😉 but honestly, it was a wake-up call..

It’s not about pointing fingers at yourself; it's about taking ownership. Of your own actions—whether you meant them or not.

Just look at all those degenerative diseases that start hitting people in their 50s. Who's really responsible for that? It's us. Every single one of us. It comes down to how we treat ourselves. We all know what's healthy and what isn't... sometimes the consequences are brutal, sometimes they aren't. But people just don't care. You can't watch every little thing, obviously. It's like karma.

Don't beat yourself up with guilt. Just realize what you did wrong and how it led to this point. It's scientifically proven that your Psychic state directly impacts your immune system.
A doctor shouldn't tell you, "this is your fault." Their job is to guide you toward that realization and show you the right way to heal. Sometimes that doesn't work because a person just isn't ready to hear it yet. Then you have to decide whether to be blunt or stay quiet. Personally, I don't think people are "to blame" for a serious illness. It happens because of lifestyle choices or genetic predispositions—but those are the very things you can actually influence to prevent them from triggering. So, it’s not guilt. It’s responsibility. What wakes one person up might hurt another; the trick is figuring out those nuances...

Is it okay if I jump back into this thread?

I finally went to see the doctor to get some guidance on what comes next... Honestly, I was terrified of the whole conversation. I was just so tense and restless the entire time..

The doctor on duty was just an intern. She listened, I guess. I ended up breaking down crying a few times during the talk, like I was digging way too deep into my own soul... It’s that same undefined fear again, where every single thing she said just set me off..

She wanted to write me a referral for a psychiatrist, but she didn't actually know any good ones. So, she just told me to come back in the morning when my regular doctor is in.

By the way, I drifted off for a nap this afternoon and got jolted awake by a text message. I snapped upright so fast, and I got hit with this light shaking/trembling that actually scared the hell out of me.

I talked everything through with my mom, and she’s just so worried about me—which, I guess, is why she tries to convince herself that I’m just making this all up.. She keeps saying stuff like, "Don't get worked up, just calm down, you'll have much harder things to deal with later in life."..

I really wish I could just control it, 😢 and tell her, "Mom, you're right." But I can't. I just end up feeling even more afraid.

I went to see my doctor today to figure out my next steps... I was honestly terrified of the appointment, just feeling so on edge and restless...

The doctor ended up being an intern, so she really just listened to everything I had to say. I broke down crying a few times during our talk, almost like I was digging deep into parts of myself I hadn't touched in years... and that vague, nameless fear just kept hitting me with every word she said...

She wanted to write me a referral for a Psychic, but she didn't know anyone good in the area... so she told me to come back in the morning when my regular doctor is actually in...

By the way, I drifted off for a nap this afternoon and got jolted awake by a text message... I sat up so fast and felt this sudden, light shaking that really spooked me...

I talked things over with my mom, and she’s just so worried about me, which probably makes her try to convince herself that I'm just making it all up... She keeps telling me stuff like "don't get worked up" or "just relax, you'll deal with harder things later"...

I really wish I could just be in control 😢 and tell her, "Mom, you're right," but I just can't... It only makes me feel more scared...

The first time I ever went to my doctor to ask for a referral to a psychologist or a psychiatrist—anyone who could help—I just sat there in the office and cried like a little kid...

The doctor tried to calm me down, but I think I finally just let go of everything I'd been bottling up and hiding away for years... it all just came pouring out of me at once...

It was the exact same thing during my first session with a psychologist (which I spent the whole time crying through while trying to explain everything)... I felt completely shattered afterward, like I'd been physically beaten, but ever since then, every session has felt a little bit easier...

Just stay brave...

I feel a little bit better now, thanks girl 🙂 🙂

I guess I finally realized that actually being around good people and their positive vibes makes a massive difference.

I just ran into an old friend from elementary school a few minutes ago, and man, we always used to have such a blast together 🙂 For about ten minutes there, I completely forgot about all my problems... Maybe that's what I really need—just some happiness and good people in my life?

It’s hard to offer anything constructive when the root cause is still such a mystery to you—but look, life is just a series of lessons and passing phases. It doesn't matter if the moments feel good or bad as long as you're breathing; they're just challenges—whether they're forced on you by others or triggered by yourself. The point is to keep moving and find a way to play through it...
And never, ever, shut yourself away—instead, scream at the top of your lungs if you're hurting. It’s simple: once you repeat a problem enough times, it becomes banal—just ordinary, just something everyone deals with. It doesn't even matter who you tell, because venting is purely human—you're just looking for a listener, some advice, or maybe someone who's lived through the same thing.
The most important part? People actually enjoy being confided in—it gives them a sense of balance compared to their own lives. Or, more often, they just lack the courage, so they see your vulnerability as an invitation to open up about their own struggles.
When things get heavy, never, ever stay alone.
As for the psychiatrist... just head to a crisis center. Maybe they'll transfer you, or maybe you'll hunt down a different specialist yourself—it really doesn't matter. Honestly, group therapy might be your best bet, because the cynicism from others will eventually just make you lose your mind—especially when everyone starts echoing the same tired tones. And don't expect miracles. Only once you become dependent on all four will it finally click how much you've helped yourself 😘

I realized that having dear people around and soaking up their good energy really does help me more than I thought...

Good people definitely make a huge difference...

One of the first things my therapist ever told me was to distance myself from anyone who brings unnecessary stress into my life—as much as I can, anyway—and honestly, that meant an entire side of my family, like my aunts and cousins, basically became people living in a "distant land" to me

Now I only reach out when I absolutely have to or if they call me first, and even then, I keep it strictly polite... I don't go looking for them anymore because I finally saw how much they were actually tearing me down... they always have something negative to say and they've caused so much drama in my life over the years that they haven't really earned a place in my daily world...

Just surround yourself with the people you actually enjoy being around and truly live your life... don't let anyone ruin it for you... it's okay to be a little "selfish" sometimes and stop giving everything you have to people who don't deserve it!

The hardest part of everything you mentioned is definitely that line—"I'm struggling all by myself within my own four walls."

Please, don't go down that road!!! — I’m saying this from my own life here — I dealt with some seriously intense phobias of my own and it was brutal. Especially because I felt like if people found out, they'd just write me off as a "total psycho" (that's literally the word I used back then)

...until I finally found the strength to reach out and get some help.

Seriously, talk to a therapist.

My whole situation ended up being caused by a chemical imbalance in my brain (basically, serotonin wasn't distributing itself evenly among my nerve endings), and no matter how hard I tried to fight it solo or face my phobias head-on—(sometimes I’d intentionally force myself to do the thing I was terrified of, thinking—wrongly, mind you—that I was "conquering" the fear. In reality, all I was doing was spiking my stress levels and making the whole mess even worse)—I eventually had to bite the bullet and see a professional.

In my case, things were made way worse by severe PTSD, and since it dragged on for years, medication (which I handle really well, thank God) became absolutely necessary.

If you catch this early while it's still in the beginning stages, you might not even end up needing meds at all.

Just stay brave. 👍

I'm dealing with that same serotonin issue too, and I always follow that same logic of trying to force myself through the things that scare me... I had no clue that doing that actually does the exact opposite of what you want. My therapist didn't give me any breathing exercises or anything, but they did put me on Prozac and Xanax. I've tried getting off them, but I always end up circling back. It's obvious I need them... even though I'm constantly, stubbornly trying to kick the habit—though, honestly, I haven't been super successful at it.😢 Which meds are you currently on?

My therapist never gave me any breathing exercises or anything like that, they just put me on Prozac and Xanax, and even though I try so hard to get off them, I always seem to end up right back where I started... clearly I still need them, even if I can't quite manage to quit yet 😢 what medications are you taking?

I'm currently taking one 75 mg capsule of Effexor XR every day

it's the lowest dose available, since it usually goes all the way up to 225 mg

it's basically a mix of an antidepressant and an anxiolytic, if I'm remembering that correctly

they're relatively new, but they don't seem to have many side effects for me

my dreams are incredibly vivid—not always bad ones, just really intense...
i dealt with some diarrhea during the first week, but it's been fine for two years now

my doctor just told me never to stop taking them on my own—which seems to be the rule with almost all antidepressants, you really have to taper off slowly

Report 🙂

My therapist just put me on Helex at 0.5mg—with a cap at 2mg per day. I’ve also been doing a ton of daily positive affirmations and self-suggestion exercises.

I guess I’m a little anxious about it... does anyone actually know what this medication is like? My Psychic tells me it’ll take a few weeks before things start feeling steady again.

electricdriver78, how long have you been taking yours??? 😲 What’s the experience been like for you? How are you holding up? Please, tell me a bit more about it..

I was chatting with a coworker who was on some kind of Zonex or Zenex—I can't quite remember which—when she was dealing with the exact same level of stress I am right now. She said things finally started looking up after a couple of weeks. 🙂

My sister used to take Helex, and honestly, those meds were pretty alright for her—they did the job. And hey, look on the bright side, you "only" got prescribed that one thing... usually they’ll throw some kind of heavy-duty booster in there too, so I reckon what you've got is actually plenty. They’ll probably try to knock you out at first, you know? That sort of groggy, out-of-it feeling, but that usually wears off once your body gets used to the routine. I'm currently on Xanax myself—which is probably what your friend is taking—and man, it’s a total nightmare trying to get off it because of how addictive it is, so I’m still dealing with that mess. Not totally sure about the deal with Helex, though.

0.5mg of Helex is nothing to you 🙂 If you’ve never messed with stuff like this before, prepare for a wild ride. You know that weird sensation in your stomach—that knot? It just vanishes—leaving your mind feeling sharp and clear. I usually keep some on hand for big exams or when I have to present to a massive board of directors... You sound so relaxed right now that you’re actually starting to enjoy the tone of your own voice 😁

Is that some kind of anti-anxiety med?

I'm feeling a little anxious about it though, does anyone know much about this medication? My Psychic told me it should take a few weeks before I really start feeling steady...

I was chatting with a coworker who was on some kind of Zonex or Zenex, or whatever it was called, back when she was dealing with the same level of stress I am now... she said things cleared up after a couple of weeks 🙂

I've actually been on mine for two years now, and I'm thinking about trying to taper off this spring just because we're hoping to start a family... otherwise, I think I'd stay on it, though maybe I'll go back to it after having a baby if that happens...

For me, everything just kept building up for years, and since it was such a heavy case, I think the treatment period ends up being a bit longer...

It's honestly wonderful that you reached out for help so quickly—you're way braver than I ever was...

I don't really have issues anymore, though I get an episode every once in a while, but they're much milder and I don't react the way I used to (with the crying, panic attacks, and heart palpitations)—now I've learned how to stay in control and use breathing exercises to relax my muscles, which helps alongside the meds...

The medications I'm on have a cumulative effect, so you can't just take them whenever you feel like it... it took about two months for them to kick in, but oh man, what a beautiful day that was when they finally did... I call it my second birthday, because I finally started living my life instead of just surviving the days...

I don't have any side effects, except for some really vivid dreams every now and then...

The only real trouble is if I forget to take my pill (I always take it at night), because then I get a massive headache the next day and sweat so much during the night that I have to change my sheets two or three times...

All in all, between the psychotherapy, the exercises my psychologist gave me, and these pills, I'm just happy as a clam... 🙂

Update #2..

I went in for a massive battery of tests just to see if there was some underlying physical reason for all these symptoms. My heart is actually fine, except for the fact that it absolutely hammers against my ribs whenever I get worked up (during the EKG, I was basically at peak anxiety and freaking out, so my pulse hit 120 😲)—the doctor said it’s no wonder I feel completely wiped out by midday.

Still, all those terrifying thoughts about having some major illness have been ruled out, 🙂

My blood work came back 5+... honestly, it was perfection itself..

Now, I’m just sitting here waiting to finally try these pills 🙂 I know, I'm such a pill junkie 😁

I'm really curious to see how they work. Part of me is a little nervous about getting hooked, but I'm hoping that won't happen.

Good news—my therapist already scheduled me for next week, which means he's putting a ton of hope in the idea that I'll be feeling more stable by then!

electricdriver78, does that have anything to do with pregnancy?? 😕 It’s true, though—it feels less like living and more like pure survival. You find yourself avoiding certain situations because you just know the mental fallout you'll deal with if things get too intense for a second.

Gal Gadot, I’ve never taken anything like this before, maybe just a couple of those over-the-counter sedatives (like Person or whatever..) Thanks for the link.. 🙂

Yeah, quick question—do things like Person, Person, or Person fall into the same category as Xanax and stuff? As far as I know, a regular GP can prescribe the first group, right...?
