Finally sat down to watch this movie after having it in my collection for ages. It was actually a pretty good watch.

Pretty solid flick, honestly one of my favorites... partly because of the subject matter, and partly just because I love American cinema.

The ending feels a bit overblown—it's a little much—but the film's atmosphere is incredibly powerful... definitely worth a watch...

The ending felt somewhat rushed to me, and frankly, it didn't quite match the pacing established throughout the rest of the film. Everything else unfolds so beautifully—it’s laid back, effortless, almost like a slow stroll through Central Park... the tension and mystery build up so gradually, bit by bit... and then suddenly, everything just unravels in a single three-minute scene. Bah!

Also, wasn't that moment where the excavator tumbled over a bit much? It felt slightly over the top to me...

Jack, I'm right there with you! 😉 I found the ending a little bit underwhelming, if I'm being honest, but man, what a great movie overall. Goldman Sachs really knocked it out of the park!

So, I finally sat down and watched it the other day (honestly, I have no clue why I waited this long, since those kinds of movies are usually right up my alley)
The movie itself is actually great—the plot is a solid 5/5—but man, that ending? It was just... meh. I was expecting something way more impactful, but instead, it felt kind of silly and naive, almost like that ridiculous bit someone mentioned about the excavator... just totally missed the mark for me.

For real, that ending was a bit much, but overall? It’s a solid flick. I'm with you... Cassell and Reno were absolutely incredible!

I’d been reading the book—which is actually quite excellent—so I was curious to see how the movie held up. It didn't work. They completely missed the mark; you finish the film without having any real grasp of why those women were even doing what they were doing.
The only redeeming quality is that scene where Cassell is fighting off those punks.

What’s the title of that book again?

The movie kicks off strong—tense, gripping, maybe even a little pretentious... then out of nowhere, it just loses its grip and starts rambling aimlessly. Total letdown after that initial rush.
The ending? Pretty much a disaster.👎

So, I just caught a trailer for River Nile 2—it stars Reno, but looks like Cassell isn't in it anymore... plus, apparently, it’s set in some monastery?? Does anyone know when this is actually hitting theaters here in the States?

The way they handled the exposition in this movie was a total mess—they completely botched the explanation of who belongs to whom, how the switch happened, where these twins suddenly came from, and most importantly, what the mother was actually working toward all this time. Honestly, the director basically sabotaged the whole experience by failing to clarify the very core of the story.

Maybe this will actually be enough to get me to pick up the book.

Since I read somewhere that a sequel is coming, I decided to check out the first one.
And honestly? I have zero clue who is who or why, which twin got switched, or even who that little girl without a finger was. Like, if anyone here has read the book or actually figured out the plot from the movie, please fill me in. I'm dying to know, and I really don't want to sit through the movie all over again just to try and make sense of it.

I still remember the first time I sat down to watch that movie......

... honestly, even now, I’m still trying to scrub the whole thing from my memory. 🙄

Seriously, does nobody actually get why those two twins are such a big deal? 😕 😢

Look, the book is definitely the gold standard, but I actually didn't hate the movie either.
In this sequel, you don't have Cassell playing the lead anymore—instead, we've got Reno (who, in the book... well, never mind that)—and the whole thing shifts away from the monastery setting toward the Maginot line. Honestly, just having that change in scenery was enough for me to think the film was abso-fu*kin-fantastic, even if the plot feels pretty disconnected from the first one.
