Psychiatrists here in the States... I’ve encountered two of them. One was completely unhinged, and I actually thought the second one was totally normal until I showed up for my psychiatry exam. Then I realized he wasn't exactly sane either. Instead of asking me about psychiatry, he started quizzing me on Greek mythology.

I’m reaching out here hoping there might be a psychiatrist or someone with mental health expertise who can help me make sense of this. On August 11th of this year, I went through an incredibly strange and violent episode. It started during an argument with my mother; suddenly, everything just went black, and I lost all control over my actions. All I know is that I shoved her out of her chair, grabbed her, and started hitting her in the face. It was this overwhelming, uncontrollable explosion of rage. In the middle of it all, I felt like I was physically coming apart at the seams—like every memory and every thought was collapsing into one single point: absolute nothingness. I don't remember every detail, just that my legs gave out and I collapsed onto the floor. After that, I started hitting and slapping myself so hard my face bled, slamming my head against the wall, sobbing, and begging for someone to just kill me... I was even foaming at the mouth. I picked up a piece of metal and started beating myself with it, then I even tried to strangle myself with a belt....

😲 😲 Rabies! Did you go out and eat a bat recently or something? 😁

Not really relevant to the topic... you just weren't paying attention during the lecture...🙂 🙂 🙂

Actually, psychology is deeply tied to Greek mythology 😉
and then some.
Their world of myth and tragedy is basically a mirror of the human psyche... served as the foundation for both Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung when they were mapping out how the mind works.

It’s unlikely to be rabies, man. He didn't mention anything about hydrophobia.😉

And I mean there's a massive connection here!
Their whole mythological landscape and those classic tragedies are basically blueprints for the human psyche... it served as the foundation for both Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung when they were trying to map out how our minds actually work.

I'm curious though—what specific part of Greek mythology were you asking about, Casey Palmer5? 🙂

So, you guys were begging for questions... well, since you finally cornered me, here they are:

1. The first one was actually a legit psychiatry question, but I rephrased it as a riddle about why some guy from rural Appalachia is out there wailing loud enough for the whole town to hear...
2. Which song by The Beatles mentions drugs, and specifically which ones?
3. The god with two faces (this one tripped me up because he asked about Greek mythology, but he was actually looking for Janus, who's Roman)
4. The whole symbolism thing regarding Eros and Thanatos...
5. And finally, the most obvious one of all: why do we die?

Look, I’m already seeing a psychiatrist and taking both Prozac and Risperdal, but honestly? None of it is helping...

So, what was he even drinking before all this?
