Yesterday, my roommate and I decided to settle in for a movie since we didn't really have anything better to do with our Sunday evening. We figured a little jump scare would be just the thing to spice things up, so we went ahead and put on Cabin Fever.
Oh boy.... let me tell you, we were screaming and gagging through the entire thing. (I mean, we really do get way too immersed in what we watch...😁 ).
Look, while the movie is actually pretty good in its own way, it is absolutely disgusting.
And yeah, it definitely scared us.
It’s a total classic... basically some teenagers rent out a cabin in the woods and end up catching this horrific flesh-eating disease.
It definitely has those gritty, survivalist vibes similar to Messenger...
But seriously.... the movie is just straight-up revolting. Especially that one scene where the girl is shaving her legs. Once that started, I had to hide under a jacket, covering my eyes and ears, just peeking over the edge while muttering about how gross it was.
Ugh...
Then today, when I went to shave my own legs, I couldn't help but think about how much they might fall apart!
Man... and if you ever decide to watch it, I highly recommend you don't eat any popcorn at the same time. I actually ended up choking on mine for a second... though I guess it wasn't worth the money anyway.

Can anyone help me out? Does a movie like this even exist? A buddy of mine mentioned watching something about two months ago, but he can't for the life of him remember the title... It's a horror flick... some kids wander off into the woods and stumble upon a guy who's been infected by some kind of virus..

Cabin Fever — I think you already have a thread going for this one, so I’ll just merge mine in with yours.

....
...it's actually not showing up on the list.
I'll have to go hunt it down myself.

Old School horror revived — yeah, that’s exactly what I'm looking for, just waiting for it to hit the local video stores... 🙂

this movie is soooo bad!!!! 👎

I honestly don't know what Jackson and Sam Raimi see in this guy, but the directing is just... I mean, it's a disaster. The cuts feel totally off, the editing is weak, and the pacing? Just completely missed the mark...

I guess the concept itself isn't terrible, but the way they try to mimic all those famous horror scenes is just lame. It feels like they just said, "Hey, let's grab a bit from Hoper, then some from Sam Raimi, then maybe a bit of Romer, then Jackson," and just stringing all their idols together to make this mediocre, amateurish thing that they're trying to market like it's some masterpiece or something...

Man, an hour and a half of my life just gone, and I spent the whole time watching American teenagers scream 😛

I probably would've been better off watching teenage girls instead 😛

...so... I've noticed that in lately released movies with similar themes hitting our local video stores over the last few months (Wrong Turn, Cabin Fever, House of 1000 Corpses, House of the Dead), it's always just American college students getting slaughtered...😁 ...man, if they keep this up, there won't be anyone left in the US to actually go to college...😁

man, I mean, that trope has been around since the days of Jason Voorhees... I guess Scream just really leaned into it and made it a whole thing.

..about a month ago...and if you thought Cabin Fever was bad, man, once you see this, you'll realize CF is actually a masterpiece...

If you all actually followed the "What was the last thing you watched?" thread, you could save yourselves from this absolute train wreck... I guess it’s enough for just one of us to suffer so we can warn everyone else to steer clear at all costs. 😉

Why is this even categorized as "horror"? It doesn't trigger any actual emotions besides pure disgust... and boredom. They're bleeding out from some "virus," but honestly, I was just bleeding from sheer boredom. Oh wait—maybe that's why they call it horror. 😬

Honestly, everyone, this movie is absolutely fantastic! It functions as a classic comedy infused with those sweet elements of romance. I can't help but think how much better it would have been if Ash Williams had been part of the cast... 😎

I caught this one in theaters, and honestly, I thought it was terrible until I stopped trying to take it seriously. Once I leaned into it, it became an absolute masterpiece of trash cinema. I spent the last thirty minutes dying of laughter, though the people sitting around me just gave me some pretty weird looks. 😁

I didn't think much of it until I stopped taking it so seriously. Once I did, it turned into a top-tier trash masterpiece.

I don't think I'll ever wrap my head around that. Trash means garbage. How can it be good, let alone "top-tier," and actually enjoyable? 🤔

sorry, I used the wrong word there. I didn't mean trash—I meant parody. Because that movie is an absolute masterclass in parody.

But you aren't the only one who put it that way. This sentiment pops up on this forum constantly, so I doubt it's just some massive coincidence that everyone is making the exact same mistake... calling things "trash," "masterpieces," "I loved it," or "it's so good"... right? 😕

If I don't like a movie—if it's boring, grating, or just plain annoying—I'm going to call it "trash." Simple as that. 🤔

Someone please enlighten me here. 🙂 image

Honestly, the absolute worst part is when some guy thinks he’s actually hitting on an older woman, but in reality, he’s just digging a hole in a total wreck of a leg! 🙂 🤮 😁
