What are everyone's thoughts on this film??
I watched it the other day and I honestly couldn't believe how absolutely insane those Japanese directors are.
The movie is total perfection.

I caught it. Honestly, the movie isn't half bad, especially those wild, mindless scenes where everyone starts dropping like flies in the lighthouse... Anyway, Takeshi absolutely kills it; I’m actually thinking about going back and hunting down that one of his—what was it called—that interview?

I've heard people talking about that movie, but I haven't actually sat down to watch it yet.🙂

The movie is great, and ljiga, stop spreading misinformation saying you can't find it anywhere. You know damn well where to get it. 😉

Well, I guess it’s obviously just a matter of taste, but personally, I thought it was excellent.

It's rare to find something this quirky, fun, and intense all at once.

What really stuck with me was the core concept and the way the film portrays human nature in such a weirdly compelling way.

But hey, we can definitely agree on one thing: Takeshi absolutely rocks. 👍 😁

During this past summer, I attempted to work my way through the Takeshi film cycle, though I only managed to catch two: "Hana-bi" and that bizarre comedy where Takeshi—it seems—parodies those classic tropes like period martial arts, Yakuza crime flicks, and, naturally, giant monster movies.

While "Hana-bi" was a decent enough crime drama, this second film felt incredibly stilted. Honestly, much like watching a bad SNL sketch, so many of the jokes were so nonsensical that I ended up laughing at how poorly constructed they were. Still, it was funny in its own way. A friend of mine actually filmed it; I’m not sure if he ever saved the footage on a tape, but it’s certainly strange enough to be worth preserving.

I just caught this at the AMC and honestly, my mind is blown. It’s an absolute masterpiece, and now I’m on a mission to find a way to share it with my favorite people..

Do you happen to have a copy? 😁 It would make both me and my wife incredibly happy...

I watched nothing but Takeshi's "The Most Peaceful Sea This Summer"... truly the most poetic and quietest film ever made...

Just finished watching... honestly, such a unique and striking film.

I finally sat down and watched it.

It’s honestly such a great movie. Someone looking for something lighthearted might be a bit shaken by how much violence there is or the age of the main characters—but if you look past every gunshot, every explosion, and every swing of a blade, there’s a deeper point being made about things that are far more terrifying than physical harm. Sure, there’s a certain twisted vibe to the high school girls with machine guns imagery, but the violence isn't treated as something "cool" or stylized; instead, it feels raw and disturbingly realistic, no matter how intense it gets.

The final third might not quite hit the same highs as the first two acts, but the strengths of this film definitely outweigh its flaws.

Do you have it on Divx? ..hm.. how am I even supposed to get my hands on that?

I only managed to catch the opening act before having to run, so I'll definitely have to circle back and finish the rest later.

It’s actually a pretty clever little touch they included where, right after someone dies, they list exactly who was taken out and how many people are still left standing—it feels a bit like watching a scoreboard during a high-stakes game of Battle Royale. And man, if you're looking for a movie that really sticks with you and gives you plenty of food for thought, this one certainly delivers on that front.

The way they list who died and how many survivors are left after each death is a clever touch. (I assume they keep doing that.) And as for the film providing plenty of food for thought—well, it certainly does.

Just in case a meteorite decides to strike him right out of the blue, or he somehow manages to dodge a runaway subway train just seconds before it crushes his favorite CD, you might want to keep a Plan B in your back pocket. 🙂
