The movie is great—beautifully shot and definitely kinky. The acting is solid, and Maggie is a total knockout. 😁

I walked into the theater without having any prior knowledge of this movie—just a total whim, really... I picked whatever was playing without a second thought.

At the time, the film was being marketed purely as a comedy.
Should I mention the sheer number of parents with kids popping up from their seats like mushrooms after a rainstorm just to escape the room? 😁

It’s a rare thing when you walk out of a cinema and the story actually sticks with you for years, making you want to go back and find it on Blu-ray later.

Fantastic storytelling, stellar acting (especially Maggie 🙏), and the overall mood was spot on.

It's great. Consider me a new member of the fan club. I actually caught a movie last night on some random cable channel—not sure which one—featuring James Spader, but I hadn't seen this specific one yet. He’s acting alongside Rob Lowe. I'll have to dig it up on Google later...🙂

Finally got around to watching The Secretary.

Honestly? I'm floored. It’s such a beautiful romance. The cast is top-tier, and Maggie was absolutely masterful.

I caught this on DVD the other day, and honestly, I wasn't expecting the story to go quite like that 😉—it just left me completely, totally floored... those opening scenes? Absolutely brilliant. And that whole concept at the end... when Maggie is trying to handle her coffee and all those papers while her hands are still cuffed, just dutifully handing them over to her boss 😍
And then there’s that final idea that lingers... how James looks at her depression and self-harm, not as some problem to be "fixed," but more like a way they actually balance out each other's instability and twisted obsessions... they just lean into it and settle into this perfectly "average" little life together 😉 👍 🙏

Great flick.

I find myself contemplating Shainberg today. Is there actually anyone of substance in that film besides the secretary? Let me know if the movie holds any merit once you've seen it. I'm genuinely curious.😉

I lost it laughing when I saw the DVD cover for that Diane Arbus movie—labeled as "a Steven Shainberg film"—using the exact same font they used for Saving Private Ryan by Steven Spielberg. I was just sitting there like, "Who does this guy think he is? What a loser," until I realized the dude actually worked as an assistant to her. Not so funny anymore... 😁 So yeah, decent movie, probably an okay director (if you judge him just by his boss), but the way they handled his name and the whole presentation was just clumsy.
