Is Michael Bay actually a bad director?

Despite whatever criticism he’s faced, the guy delivered Transformers—one of the greatest action movies ever made.

Nah, he just has a different taste—for instance, he thinks AvPR is way better than Starship Troopers, which is probably a hot take nobody actually agrees with, but hey, that's his prerogative.

I mean, calling Transformers one of the greatest action movies ever made... that’s not even about having different tastes anymore. Putting Bay in the same sentence as "the best" is like putting Hitler in the same sentence as humanity.

It's true—Transformers doesn't even crack the top 100 action flicks. But if you ask me, Spielberg deserves just as much credit for Transformers as Bruckheimer does for most of Bay's other hits. I remember hearing Bruckheimer once mention he'd never even heard of George Clooney or the FBI—what an absolute jerk.

Listen, give Vrdoljak 200 million bucks and he'd probably turn out a better movie. And you could probably cast George Clooney as Optimus Prime.😁

Seriously! They’d probably throw in John Travolta as a Greyhound that’s somehow stuck and can't transform, Morgan Freeman as a Volkswagen Beetle cruising in from the rough outskirts of Canada, and then maybe have a Bitorajac zip through the scene like a sleek smart convertible—now *that* would be an action movie.

You might not care for it, but I certainly do.

Honestly, Michael Bay is easily my favorite director ever—mostly because he’s the only one who actually managed to kick me out of a theater. Seriously, nothing before or after Armageddon could ever make me walk out. But Armageddon...

Yeah, by the way, I honestly think it’s just plain rude and low-class to walk out of a movie theater halfway through, no matter how bad the flick is.
