About Schmidt

I thought it was actually quite wonderful.
It was honestly the first time I’ve seen Jack Nicholson play someone who actually looks like he belongs in his own age group, you know? Just a regular guy, not some eternal youth. 😁

There was already an open thread about that movie, but somehow it's missing from the list.
hmm hmm

Yeah, I went looking too. Nothing there.

Hey there!

Such an incredible movie!!!

I honestly feel like Jack should have taken home the Oscar that year... I just can't figure out who managed to snatch it away from him...

Finally caught this one last night.

It’s got those classic Payne vibes—all those recurring themes and motifs... midlife crises (or is it late-life?), old affairs resurfacing, father-child dynamics, people pulling away emotionally, existentialism, looking back at life... kind of reminds me of Descendants or Nebraska. Jack Nicholson plays one of his most down-to-earth roles here, but man, he is so captivating and interesting to watch. The situations, the snappy comebacks, the dialogue... it's all just great.

Really solid stuff. Not overhyped, and just perfectly paced. 🙂

I know I’m bumping this thread after 11 years, but hey, what can you do? 😛 Just stumbled upon it through a Google search... 😬

What a damn good movie. Honestly, it might even be the best one featuring Jack Nicholson. And man, Payne really has a knack for those existential road dramas... like Nebraska or Sideways...
