More often than not, those with the most rigid convictions are the very ones who pivot to the complete opposite extreme.

Exactly. 👍

Did you guys even bother reading my first post?

It’s so easy to play the humanitarian or the empathetic soul, but actually READING what’s being said is a different story.

I’m not going to throw death tolls or sick relatives in your faces just to defend my position. To me, using the dead or the sick as an argument is unnecessary.

Listen, "they" saw it... Where do you all get off trying to act smarter than me on this forum?

We are talking about my body, and I have every right to express my opinion here.

If you don't like it—I couldn't care less. I haven't forced anyone to think like me.

And yeah—there is a very real chance that I could get sick. 🙂

So please, stop talking out of your asses. 🙂

Look, don't get your panties in a bunch.

I mean, seriously—you're telling me you wouldn't even put your name on a waiting list for a transplant from a deceased donor if you were facing organ failure? Fine. Whatever. That's your call...

Me? I’d be right there on that list.

Why don't we all just lose the right to act like geniuses on this forum?...

Holy crap, you're totally losing it!!! Like, seriously... who on earth is pressuring you into taking someone else's organ?
Don't donate, don't give anything away—just make sure every single one of your organs goes into the ground right along with you. Hell, don't even bother giving blood if you get hit by a streetcar... at the end of the day, it's your body, and you should do whatever the hell you want with it...

Honestly, just let Betty Hill82 be, she's a little aggressive.

Back when I was living in Germany, I actually carried a donor card—and look, if I ever decide to finally settle down somewhere permanent (if that even happens 😁), I’ll make sure to request that they relieve me of any extra organs. Once I kick the bucket, I certainly won't have any use for them.

When I look at how our healthcare system actually operates—between the sheer inefficiency of the services and all the corruption and organized crime embedded in the medical industry... honestly, I’d rather just be cremated. I mean, even if that doesn't actually help anyone (and might even make things worse), I'd much prefer that over being torn apart by whoever wants to get their hands on me.

Honestly, I’m actually relieved it's set up this way. I used to always assume I had to go somewhere specific to register my intent to be an organ donor, but look, I'm lazy, and I just couldn't bring myself to figure out where or how to do it... then when I heard you don't even need to register, it was such a weight off my shoulders 🙂

And honestly, let them tear me apart on a hundred different pages once I'm gone; if it means helping people like that, God knows I'll do it. I truly don't care what they end up doing with me.

Though, I think someone mentioned earlier that medical schools are actually short on cadavers, if I caught that correctly. Is there a way to sign up for that? Personally, I thought cremation might be the best route, but that gets expensive so quickly, and you still have to deal with a cemetery later anyway—it's not like they can just toss you into the ocean, so none of that makes much sense either.

I am firmly IN FAVOR of organ donation. Personally, I’m already a registered donor (though I hear those registries aren't even strictly necessary anymore). To be honest, I don't personally know anyone in my circle who has received a transplant, nor do I know anyone—thankfully—who has donated. However, I am well aware of many people in my community who remain deeply skeptical about the entire organ donation system and the fear that they'll just be "carved up" once they are declared brain dead.
I am genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts and any personal experiences you might have...👍

I'm totally fine with it. Honestly, most people would step up and donate if they could. Even the late Pope said it’s a damn shame to let something go to waste when it could be used to save a life. The real issue here is that our healthcare system still runs like a total wreck. Sure, they've been making some progress lately, mostly thanks to a handful of dedicated enthusiasts working their tails off to get an efficient transplant system running. So, look—the organs are there, but they aren't being utilized properly because hospitals just won't pull the trigger on transplants. It makes no sense when you consider the massive waiting lists and the sheer number of people whose lives literally depend on a donated organ. Too many people end up dying while staring at a clock, just waiting for a call that never comes. That's only half the battle, though. The other side of the coin is the potential for corruption, which is a huge risk in less developed countries. If the whole system isn't perfectly organized and completely transparent, you run the risk of organs being sold under the table to whoever has the deepest pockets.

It happened six months ago! And honestly, it keeps happening just like almost every other thread on this board...

Sure, but you clearly weren't around six months ago... ☕ and it looks like the moderators aren't doing a great job of merging threads here either. Whatever, if you want to reopen this topic in six months, go ahead, I don't care. If you actually give a damn about what *some* users think regarding this thread, just go read the other one.

That's all from me. Peace. 👋

Maybe I’m just losing my mind, or maybe I’ve been dreaming, or perhaps I’m just completely misremembering things—but honestly, if this is actually true, someone please set me straight.😬
Does anyone else here remember seeing an ad or some kind of public service announcement on PBS a year or two back? It was about how, if you don't want to be an organ donor after you pass away, you have to sign some specific legal document or contract.😕
I know how irrational that sounds, and I feel a bit silly even bringing it up, but I can't shake the feeling that I've seen that announcement several times. If my memory isn't playing tricks on me, I’d love to know if any of you happened to catch that same message.🙂

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head.

It’s a total catch-22—you sign if you DON'T want to, but if you don't sign, they just assume you're down and take it anyway.
I'm 100% sure about this.
