After all that chaos, Žika Pavlović’s latest flick just had its big premiere in New York City. The whole plan to drop the movie simultaneously across all the major hubs of the former USA fell through, just like so many other attempts before it, mostly because they were trying to wrap up what’s clearly going to be a massive cinematic event—I haven't actually sat down to watch it yet, but the subject matter combined with the fact that it’s Pavlović’s final project makes it feel pretty heavy.

driftingeagle27, you’re definitely going to be the first one to jump on this the second you see him, aren't you?

So how old is Žika actually? (... quick jump over to imdb ...) He was born on April 15, 1933. (Aries are the best, let's be real) So he's practically still a kid... Luis Buñuel was still working on Tristan at that age, and then went on to do the discrete charm of the bourgeoisie and all that good stuff...

Jesus, wait—he passed away! November 29, 1998, in New York City, USA. (heart attack). Oh man, what an absolute ignoramus I am. So who actually made it then? Ah, okay, Directed by Zivojin Pavlovic and Dinko Tucakovic. Language : English. See?

Honestly, they ought to screen that movie in Washington, D.C.—hell, just run his entire retrospective while they're at it. Then? Take every single active American filmmaker, lock them up in the film archive, and force them to watch Pavlovic’s films on loop until they start losing consciousness. If they ever want to be released, they'd have to pass a grueling exam where they need at least a 70% score on questions regarding "gritty realism." Maybe then we’d actually get some decent cinema out of this country...😢

Directed by Zivko Pavlovic, Dinko Tucakovic.

Things went totally sideways with this movie after Zika passed away, since someone actually had to finish it... There was a chance Shiyan would step in to wrap things up, but that didn't happen, so Tucakovic ended up taking over the job. Some people claim he couldn't quite pull it off, though I honestly have no clue because I haven't had a chance to gledati it yet, and even when I finally do, I probably won't be able to tell where Zika left off and where the rest begins.

Anyway, the whole post-mortem mess dragged on forever, involving all this chaos with the premiere being pushed back and everything; it almost ended up skipping theaters entirely just to go straight to cable. The drama really boiled over publicly after the premiere, especially since a bunch of the people who worked on the film wouldn't even show up to the event. Most folks point the finger at the producer, but nobody really knows what kind of shady business was actually going down behind the scenes.

I'll likely get around to watching it this week; I'll drop a note here once I do.
