Speaking for myself—and I mean this sincerely—I think the club is actually doing a pretty decent job with the youth academy. Take Pukstas, for instance; he’s really found his footing this season and might even end up playing for the US National Team if he keeps this pace up. Then there was Prpic, who looked solid before that injury hit—so, honestly, let Vuskovic develop. I truly believe we’ll see more of these youngsters getting minutes toward the end of the season... and frankly, we have two or three kids who—assuming they aren't sold off to some big European club—will be starters in the XI by next year. That’s high-level management right there.
You guys are being a bit ridiculous about the goalkeeper situation, though... considering your current guy is basically a backup from an MLS side. As for Sentic—who, mind you, is a fine product of our own training system—if you aren't counting on him, you could have at least moved him to a mid-tier European league for $2 million first. Just a thought.
It’s understandable that you lack patience, really... but look, regardless of what I think about the other big club in the country facing a massive transition period next year—where the era of their veteran core will finally wind down—I suspect you’re heading for a similar transitional phase, just with this new crop of talent instead.
And here we go... if you drop points against the local rivals this weekend, the usual chaos and finger-pointing will start all over again in the press. It’s entirely unnecessary. If we lose, it’s a nothing burger... provided it even happens.
