Locked out of my PC

I could really use some help here. I have a computer that was password-protected, but one of my students went ahead and changed the login code, so now I'm completely locked out. Of course, I have no idea what this new password is—and honestly, I'm not even sure if the student actually knows it themselves. Does anyone know how I might be able to get this machine back up and running?🤔

Hi there. Honestly, your best bet is to get a school IT admin involved to handle this. If you want to tackle it yourself, you can find plenty of tutorials on YouTube explaining how to reset a password without needing the old one. What OS are we dealing with? I’m guessing it’s either Windows 7 or maybe even XP?

You’re going to need Hiren's BootCD... it actually has an option specifically designed to let you change a password http://www.hirensbootcd.org/resetting-windows-password/.
That being said—if you aren't really tech-savvy—it might not be quite as straightforward as it sounds.

I actually dealt with a very similar headache not too long ago, where for some completely inexplicable reason, I ended up stuck with two separate administrator accounts.
Basically, I just couldn't get past the login screen when booting up my PC; no matter what I tried, it would insist on demanding a password every single time I wanted to get into Windows.

So, I eventually had this bright idea to just delete one of those accounts entirely. That’s when things really went sideways, because even after trying to clear it out, the system was still prompting me for a Windows password—except now, none of the passwords I entered would work. I even tried resetting everything through the Microsoft website, but honestly, it was a total bust.

If the account settings were messed up, you can swap the password without even knowing the old one. ☕
