The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015)

A bit of a lukewarm sequel, and honestly, a pretty underwhelming way to wrap up the series. I was definitely expecting more from this.

I recall thinking the third book was my absolute favorite—though I suppose that logic applies to the movie as well. It feels incredibly overextended, honestly... just dragging on far longer than necessary. Everything vital that happens in the film could easily be condensed into a single hour.

It’s dragging on forever—honestly, it feels like it could go on until the heat death of the universe—but there's absolutely zero substance to it... nothing interesting happening at all.

This movie really shouldn't have dragged on for more than 55 minutes... what an absolute slog. And just when I finally thought it was over, the screen went pitch black... I found myself thinking, thank God, once that final knockout scene with the kids actually happened 😁
When I look back at the first film and how much I stood against the system, by the end, they had me wanting nothing more than for Snow to be completely wiped out...
What kind of scenes are we even talking about? There's four minutes of Jennifer walking through that house, stepping out, stepping back in, then bumping into that idiot who says, "I picked up some wildflowers at the edge of the woods," if those were even wildflowers... and that entire sequence takes up seven minutes of the runtime...
She really should have just used that little trolley on the kids

Man, I was counting down the minutes until this thing ended. It felt so dragged out... honestly, if they'd just cut it down to two hours, the tension would've been way better.

Who actually filmed this, who bankrolled this entire production, and most importantly—who on earth benefits from it? It’s just a mindless flick serving as the grand finale to an equally pointless series. They spend the whole time sprinting through the streets while traps trigger behind them... And people call this a hit book? Give me a break. 😕

That was a terrifying cinematic experience. What kind of ending was that? What am I even supposed to take away from this? 😵

I have to say, I find myself agreeing with the general consensus forming here. It feels like a painfully mediocre movie that essentially gutted the franchise by splitting it into Part 1 and Part 2; it seems such a shame because the first installment was actually quite refreshing, earning praise from critics as a breath of fresh air among YA series, and the second film set an incredibly high bar for what future YA adaptations could achieve.

Honestly, when I see the crowd showing up at the local library to check out books—mostly just teenagers, with the age limit capped at 16—it gives me a pretty good idea of what kind of movie we're dealing with here.

The film—much like the book—is clearly aimed squarely at that demographic, and honestly, I don't see the issue with that. Teens seem to love
- Great, which is exactly why they decided to split it into two parts just to squeeze more cash out of us. It really highlights how much this whole thing is driven by the bottom line,
since they could have easily wrapped everything up in one single installment and been done with it.

That said, it isn't exactly worth a theater ticket, so I intentionally skipped the cinema trip.
The teenagers who think this stuff is "WOW" will go make it a hit. Those of us a bit older will probably grumble about how bloated and overextended it feels
- Which, let's be honest, it is—but we'll likely end up watching it anyway, just to see the saga through to its conclusion. Maybe someone will catch it on TV late at night and fall asleep halfway through. 😁

It probably didn't even need an epilogue, but hey, whatever.

As for the last two, they could have easily been wrapped up in 90 minutes—and even then, they probably would’ve felt dragged out. 😵

Splitting movies is just a lazy gimmick to me—if you have one book, you don't need two or three films to tell the story. Honestly, when they first announced splitting the third book, I thought it was absurd; I couldn't fathom how they’d stretch the plot without it feeling thin. But you all pretty much nailed that sentiment already. ☕ You actually reminded me that I somehow missed seeing it in theaters, so I really should catch up. 😬

Predictable from the opening scene to the final credits. I loved the first two films, but the last two were absolute garbage. They really should have just combined them into one. Am I glad I skipped the theater? I am.

They really shouldn't have butchered the final installment. Based on the book, I honestly expected the adaptation to be a quick watch—but then again... 🤦 I can stomach the first one well enough, but the second? It’s bordering on unbearable.

Five minutes of actual plot, fifteen minutes of just stalling... that was basically this whole movie.

That's exactly how I feel. 👏

The first and last ones work for me; everything else is just too hard to swallow.
