Hey mods,
if this belongs in a different sub, my bad—just move it to the right spot.

Hey IT crowd,
I’ve been downloading movies from YouTube, and they used to work fine on my PC for a while.
But now, out of nowhere, everything is turning into an MP3—meaning when I open a file, it's just audio, like I'm listening to music instead of watching a movie.
I tried downloading another one today, and it's the same deal; just sound, no picture, basically like I just downloaded a song.
Any ideas?

What kind of file extension are we actually looking at here? For instance, does the file end in .mp3 or something else? It’s entirely possible you're just assuming it converted into an mp3 when it's actually a standard video file that won't play because your current media player is struggling or you're missing the right codecs. I remember having this exact headache once with a weird file format back in the day. Just grab GOM Player and see if that does the trick for you.

They weren't exactly capable of converting themselves into MP3 files on their own, you know?

Just figured this out
If you right Click the icon, you'll see
Play in Winamp (that's the default)

And right underneath, there's an "Open With" option
Just click on
Windows Media Player

and you're good to go.

Thanks, everyone.
