I could use some help here.

I’ve been using a digital receiver to record shows from Discovery and History Channel. When I watch the recordings directly through the receiver, the subtitles work perfectly fine. However, when I move that same file (it's a .ts extension) over to my PC, the subtitles completely disappear.

What should I be doing differently, or which software should I be using to get this working? Any advice would be appreciated.:::

And hey, maybe you could just try toggling the subtitles on directly within the media player you're using

I wouldn't call myself an amateur! In the directory where my DVR saves recordings, I have three specific files: 000.ts, 000.dvr, and info3.dvr.

I have a suspicion that Viasat might be intentionally blocking subtitle playback on third-party software—I've already tested this with Windows Media Player, VLC, and DVX.

The thing is, when I record from Discovery, everything works perfectly... SO WHY the difference?

Maybe give that recording a shot using VLC instead.
