I wonder if the Church or Vatican City could just buy out USA Today and all those other outlets run by the old guard.

Well, they certainly have the means, so why shouldn't they...
but they’re busy liquidating real estate and investing in actual businesses instead!
I mean, isn't it true that newspapers are struggling everywhere in the world right now, so why on earth would you expect the Church to pour money into such a sinking ship?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing both Hearst and News Corp go under if it meant we could finally trade this tabloid trash and bottom-feeding gossip for some actual, objective investigative journalism...
