Double standards or some kind of untouchable absolutism? Please, those were basically non-existent back then. 🙂

Bring back the good old days—do whatever you have to do to make it happen. 🙂

Give me a break.
Either you're trolling or you're a clone of someone who already got banned.

One should always strive for constant improvement, I suppose,
but I’m part of the past now, and regardless of how things shake out in the future, it won't have anything to do with me.
The same goes for these recent events—at least, I wasn't the one pulling the strings or footing the bill, nor was I involved in any behind-the-scenes negotiations with anyone.
Sorry, but I’m still perfectly capable of speaking my mind independently and addressing whoever I feel needs to hear it.
🙂

God, seriously,🙂

Now those self-appointed legal experts mentioned above are starting to crawl out of the woodwork—let's settle in and enjoy the performance.😍

Nice. With that, you've pretty much cleared up every single doubt. 😁😁😁

Personally, I don't find it entertaining at all—it's just unpleasant watching someone like hollowtrucker77 degrade himself until there's almost nothing left of his dignity

but from a purely sociological and cultural standpoint, it's actually quite an interesting case study😁

The bifurcation fallacy is—well, if you ask any of the mods over at LJES—actually a pretty interesting logical error. 🥳
If you'd kept going with that whole "Slavic antithesis" bit, I might have gone along with it; but instead, I really have to... well, correct you.

Yeah, it's a total given that this female user wouldn't have experienced hollowtrucker77's administration under this specific handle. But—and this is the big part—that doesn't automatically mean she's trolling or some shadow version of a banned account. And it's definitely not the only two options out there.

People make alt accounts for all kinds of reasons; for instance, this guy switched from my original handle because nobody could pronounce it and it was driving me crazy.
Plus, most people lurking on this forum don't even bother having an account. They just read, you know? They don't feel the need to register until they suddenly get the urge to chime in.
None of that changes the fact that the user in question could have easily been around to witness how things were run before, even if she wasn't personally banned. In fact, even when the ban wave started hitting toward the end, there were still hundreds of users who managed to stay in the clear.
Sure, who knows how many would've stayed if hollowtrucker77 had stuck around longer, but that’s a whole different conversation. 😬

I hope this false dilemma is settled now and we can stop seeing it pop up—especially not as an ad hominem attack like we just saw here. ☕

🤦

Honestly, I don’t even think I need to spell out just how far you all went overboard, or exactly where things lost the plot. And frankly, I don't think I have to point out that if we keep going down this path, the sequel is just going to end up being a complete repackaging of the same old tired tropes.

Anyway, there’s something else about this whole situation that feels incredibly symptomatic.

The administration—and frankly, I don't care which specific group it is; I have zero interest in getting dragged into these little clan politics—noticed some problematic behavior about a year ago. We're talking about an individual who aggressively hijacks threads and uses everything from subtle jabs to blatant insults wherever they go. It hasn't always been sanctioned—not until the circus reached a breaking point recently.
Now that the exact same pattern has resurfaced, it’s clear this isn't just being brought up out of thin air.

I haven't encountered a single thread where this person hasn't popped up—usually to condescendingly lecture me (or anyone else with opposing views from ten topics ago or even some old dinner party grudge) through a haze of fabricated prejudices and cheap ad-hominem trolls.
It doesn't matter to them whether I'm interested in religion, reading tarot, or just staring at the sun—unless it's the actual topic at hand, I have no intention of putting up with their frustrations.

I won't stoop to their level by responding in kind, but shouldn't someone actually take a serious look at the issue when people start complaining?

Thanks. kyss

the problematic behavior of someone aggressively hijacking threads

You're free to beat "the individual" in an argument—or report them for specific instances of harassment and rule-breaking—but you can't force them off a topic or hijack it yourselves. Being stubborn about one's own views isn't a valid reason to drive anyone else off the forum.

And I honestly don't get why posts like this aren't sanctioned after a moderator warns that the discussion isn't actually about "the individual" in question.

I really have zero interest in bickering with some uninitiated parachute lawyer—sorry, not happening.
I’m just flagging this for the admins; I’m not even asking for sanctions until something more blatant occurs.

Then why don't you just say who you're talking about?

The statement "this person bothers me on the forum, do something about it" is arguably just one step below a slapped-on psychiatric diagnosis.

We have all sorts of people on this forum, and honestly, it wouldn’t just be impossible for everyone to get along—it would be incredibly boring and frankly quite pathetic if they did. Every single one of us has those users we’d love to see tossed into a vat of acid, and others we’d rather just tuck under a blanket and hide away. But, what does this general call for "attention being diverted" toward one user or another actually mean in practice? I am asking without a shred of irony: what specific measures are actually being proposed behind this demand to "shift the focus"? You can't just say, "I don't know, my job is to shift the attention, let them figure out the measures"...

There is already a system for reporting posts. There are warnings, temporary suspensions, and permanent bans based on the decisions of various levels of administration. That is more than enough to keep this forum in order.

I have a question regarding this topic.

How on earth can this be considered offensive when the user himself explicitly stated on the forum that he sees a psychotherapist?

Let’s get one thing straight: no specific diagnosis was ever mentioned, and I am certainly not complaining about anyone's medical records here.

It’s just interesting to me. That’s all. ☕

Well, just eyeballing it, maybe it’s because they used the whole "diagnosis" thing—you know, the fact that I see a therapist—as a way to belittle me and make cheap shots?

Then again, it's possible I completely missed the incredibly constructive tone behind that little "you'd know, sweetheart 🙂" comment.

Oh, he knows. Believe me, he knows! 🙂 As if I wouldn't already know. Please. 😳
