I’d appreciate it if someone could take a look at the discussion regarding the war in Libya. My comment was removed under the claim of "insulting language and arguing without substance," though I was simply offering my own perspective. In my view, the current intervention in Libya is just an expression of the will of the people in the USA, the UK, and France to support the rebels—largely because those very nations were built upon the foundation of revolution. Thanks.

Even though I’ve somewhat cleared things up with the moderator slybison8, I still feel the need to lodge a formal complaint regarding his conduct. After our exchange, it seems to me that his emotional attachment to this subject—whether consciously or not—is clouding his ability to moderate the discussion fairly. In my view, he bears much of the responsibility for the conversation devolving into petty bickering and senseless arguments through his own inflammatory remarks. I am specifically referring to comments such as "just steamroll them," or telling users "not to whine when they get their teeth kicked in by a colonel," or labeling someone as "nothing more than a blatant Nazi racist." Thank you.

Actually, mellowdrifter32, I don't think that is really the issue. I suppose the real problem is your intolerance toward my perspectives, which seems to result in constant provocations directed at me personally. Regarding that deleted comment you mentioned, it didn't really offer any new substance, and it was removed along with another user's comments during the same moderation sweep, so it wasn't singled out just because it was mine. Then this morning, you continued the argument by interpreting my translations and taking the liberty of judging my command of the English language. I feel I have put far too much effort and dedication into this thread over the last week to allow myself to be subjected to this kind of personal harassment from you. I don't believe there is any reason why such behavior should be tolerated, whether it is directed at other members or, perhaps more importantly, at yourself.

I have absolutely no intention of revisiting our previous exchange—I’ve already laid out my position there—but regarding this English matter, I believe I was merely offering a heads-up. My intent was to point out an inaccurate translation by providing a link to the correct article. I wasn't critiquing your grasp of the language; rather, I suspected the quote had been lifted from one of our local news sites, which I believe I noted at the time. I would ask that you please re-examine the entire situation, as I feel a significant error has been made here.

Furthermore, I don't believe that engaging in a reasoned debate or simply disagreeing with your perspective should be characterized as mobbing.

It’s been a few days since my last update, and frankly, the situation regarding the conflict in Libya has only spiraled further. I can't help but worry that our moderator, slybison8, is feeling the weight of everything happening in Libya and might be struggling to manage the heavy lifting required to moderate a thread like this. Is anyone else sensing the strain? I truly hope someone steps up soon to offer a hand—even if it's just some friendly advice—to prevent this vital, and potentially fascinating, discussion from completely falling apart. Thanks.

I’d like to put in another request for someone in charge to take a closer look at this discussion regarding Libya. It would be helpful if you could lend a hand to our moderator, slybison8, with his duties. Things seemed to settle down a bit after my last comment, but unfortunately, it looks like slybison8—left to his own devices—is letting the power go to his head. He’s started indulging in these little fantasies, acting more like some desert warlord or the father of a Jamahiriya than an actual moderator, and it's needlessly ruining what could be a perfectly harmless and interesting topic. Thank you.

I actually deleted the last three messages myself.
They were just spiraling based on stuff mentioned earlier in the thread, so they were totally unnecessary.
Here they are in full:

I've gone through plenty of sources and eyewitness accounts, but I honestly don't have the bandwidth to get into a massive debate over this, so I used the word 'potential' to stay cautious.

All I can say is that history has shown us time and again that social stability and economic growth don't rule out the worst crimes against humanity—the very massacres that triggered the international community's current military intervention in Libya.

I want to ask everyone participating here to please hold back on the slogans and the unhelpful generalizations. Let's stop drawing conclusions about the nature of a regime based solely on personal experiences. Look, nobody is disputing that under Gaddafi, Libya had a certain level of social security and economic progress, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the military intervention. Nor does it prove or disprove any potential criminal actions taken by the Gaddafi regime—actions that happened far away from ordinary Libyan citizens, and especially far away from tourists or foreign workers.

While I’ll concede that my previous posts might be somewhat irrelevant to this specific point, I don't see why you felt the need to quote them all individually here. Since they were written after the fact, doing so creates a skewed impression regarding my actual reasoning. My request for more effective moderation isn't about those old threads; it's primarily about preventing discussions from devolving into nothing more than a competition of who can offer the most unbridled, excessive praise for the Colonel's brother.

I just wanted to point out that slybison8 isn't the only one keeping this discussion on track.

Perhaps, though following this thread gives you the distinct impression that it’s been left entirely at the mercy of the moderator, slybison8, for reasons I can't quite fathom. Take, for instance, the most recent of these rather telling observations:

"You've checked every single box for a red card due to trolling—but since I'm a merciful Moderator ) and you actually gave me a good laugh, I'll grant you a pass for being funny."

I suppose in times of war, one might lose grip on their emotions. Perhaps a man feels it is his solemn duty as a loyal soldier of Gaddafi to personally contribute to the ultimate victory by moderating these posts? But for the sake of everyone else—those who find this topic interesting, or even those for whom it's utterly trivial—I have to ask: can someone please step in and assist slybison8? Or, if that isn't an option, perhaps a brief hiatus is in order? It would be wise to take a break from the intolerable stress of managing this thread while simultaneously dealing with the endless, frantic anxieties regarding the life and health of our beloved Colonel.

🙄

I think "impression" is such a subjective thing. Honestly, I feel like we've already covered the whole moderation topic, and frankly, labeling people like this just isn't the kind of vibe we want to encourage here on the forum.
