Is looks important for a Prime Minister? Thoughts on Jacqueline Kosor?

Has anyone else noticed that Jacqueline Kosor has somehow leveled up lately—like, she’s looking way more attractive over the last few days? Do you guys feel the same way, and do you think this actually matters for her career in politics?

I honestly wonder how long this thread is going to stay active on Reddit's politics board.

Plastic surgery works wonders these days—though for some people, like Madeleine Albright, I guess there's just no saving them.
And yeah, Angela Merkel might not be winning any beauty pageants, but who cares? It doesn't change a damn thing..☕

I'm wondering the same thing—though I think this topic belongs right here. I'm especially curious to see what the ladies on Reddit have to say about it.

She is completely unlikable... I just can't see any comparison between her and Kosor when it comes to charisma or appeal...👎...plus, she comes across as incredibly arrogant...

Just look at various US presidents over the last twenty years; you see all kinds of looks, some great and some not, yet they all served the country with varying levels of success... 🙄

In the worlds of business and politics, being an attractive woman can actually be more of a hindrance than a help.
Work is work. Sex appeal and physical attractiveness belong to a different part of life, even if people constantly conflate the two—usually in a pretty derogatory way.
When there's actual business to be done, looks tend to distract from the substance of who you are. And frankly, what America needs right now isn't some beauty queen drawing eyes toward her appearance rather than her intellect.
From a purely superficial standpoint, Condoleezza Rice handles this perfectly. She’s always impeccably dressed in classic, understated tones—blacks, whites, greys—which is exactly the vibe you want for a stateswoman.
And for another thing, when it comes to aesthetics, look at Angela Merkel... Rice actually has the edge there. So, does looking good really dictate whether a woman succeeds in politics?

I guess when it comes to politics—for men or women—it’s all about your stance. Looks won't get you anywhere.
Bill Clinton basically cruised through his last two elections just because of how he carried himself and the image he projected.
Even if you look at some of the most powerful women out there today, like Angela Merkel, or even people like Margaret Thatcher from back in the day, looks aren't the point. It's just about having an attitude and a personality.

Yeah. But let's face it—this is America, where people judge everything by different standards and dive into all sorts of petty analysis. If the biggest pop star in the States is someone like Taylor Swift, then yeah, people definitely care if the Prime Minister is sexy or not. It shouldn't matter, but in our culture, it does.

And since everything else in politics seems to boil down to gossip anyway, why shouldn't we talk about this too?

Anyway, just speaking my mind as a woman here, I wouldn't go so far as to say she's unattractive—she’s definitely not a disaster and you can tell she takes care of herself—but there's just something about her that feels off, you know? She strikes me as being a little bit untrustworthy, almost like a sneaky fox or something.

The Republican Party actually has some pretty capable and attractive women. It’s just harder to pull the strings when they're around.
