Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice or maybe just a bit of insight from you all...

Basically, for about the last ten days, I've been dealing with these symptoms:

- Constant bloating and nausea—I feel like I need to throw up both before and after eating.
- This weird sensation in my chest, almost like my heart is pounding so hard it might jump right out of my ribs.
- High blood pressure and an elevated heart rate.

This stuff actually started a few months back—around the beginning of summer—and it usually kicked in the day after
I’d go out and party, drinking anywhere from a single drink to quite a lot more.
I haven't touched alcohol in a while now, but I just can't seem to shake this urge to vomit or get these heart palpitations.

A couple of days ago, I ended up in the ER. My BP was 150/90, my heart rate was at 102 bpm, and my blood sugar was 7.4. About five or six years ago, I dealt with some gastritis issues that cleared up after five months once I ditched the meds and just stuck to a clean diet.

I'm 24 years old, and I've been an active athlete my whole life—soccer, training, games almost every single day—so, honestly, I'm getting pretty worried.

I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for tomorrow, but I'd love to hear what you guys think—any idea what might be going on?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

So, what did the doctor actually say?

Typical symptoms of H. pylori.
Go see your primary care doctor first to get a referral for a gastroenterologist, then they'll likely order an endoscopy and an abdominal ultrasound.

Look, this stuff is totally fixable, but you’re going to have to be extremely disciplined about what you eat.

Thanks for all the input.

So, I finally made it to my doctor’s office, and they sent me off for an abdominal ultrasound, some blood work, and a test for H. pylori.

The ultrasound came back totally clear, which is a relief—but I won't have my blood results until Monday or Tuesday, and then I have to wait another two or three weeks for the bacteria test. Wtf?

On top of that, they put me on 40 mg Tylenol twice a day.

The worst part is that I don't feel any better at all—I'm constantly nauseous, feeling those heart palpitations, some discomfort in that area, and just this persistent weakness...

And I actually have work to do, too. 🙄 I guess we'll see what the blood work shows in a few days...

Your blood work probably won't give you any definitive answers... It was definitely a smart move to get those tests done, along with the H. pylori screening, but you’re still missing an endoscopy. If there's actually an ulcer involved, a barium swallow might show something, but a gastroscopy is really the only way to be certain.

I realize that a standard blood panel isn't going to uncover much here...

I'm planning to ask my doctor for a referral for a barium swallow study—I've been through it once before—so if that doesn't give them a clear diagnosis, the next step is likely a gastroscopy.

To be honest, I’m really hoping it doesn't come to that; there's just something about that procedure that I'm not particularly fond of. 🤷

I'm going through the exact same thing... I had a gastroscopy and they found a small hernia and some reflux. It started out with just constant burping, which I didn't think much of at first, but then the chest pains kicked in. I was on the same medication you're taking for about two months, but honestly, it didn't do much for me. The real game-changer is what you eat. Don't go overboard on huge meals; instead, try eating five or six smaller meals throughout the day. After four months of doing that, I feel amazing. I still get a little pressure here and there, but usually only if I overdo it with the drinks.🙂
Hang in there... you're going to be just fine.

Update...

Just like Sam Hall15 suspected, my blood work came back completely normal—nothing unusual at all.

I headed into a private clinic for an exam today, but since it’s about a 90-minute drive from where I live, the trip actually made me feel worse—the same old symptoms hit me hard: nausea, wanting to throw up, and that heavy feeling when trying to breathe or swallow...

Anyway, I managed to "drag myself" through the appointment and get a "standard" checkup done...
My blood pressure was 140/80 and my pulse was sitting at 140—the doctor thinks it might be my thyroid and suggested I go get my hormone levels checked out...

He also prescribed some medication to help bring my heart rate down (and hopefully calm my whole system down, too)—between work and everything else on my plate, I won't lie, this is just adding a massive layer of stress to my life.

Still, I don't think I've totally "lost it" or snapped—I'm still hanging in there ;-)

I'm not entirely sure how much weight to put on his thyroid diagnosis yet; we'll see what the hormone tests say... Any thoughts or comments are welcome... Best,
