Diabetes typically presents with a classic triad of symptoms: excessive eating, drinking, and urination... In younger patients, this often leads to weight loss, whereas older individuals frequently develop the condition due to being overweight...

Man, I’m looking at this thread you posted like two years ago...

I used to be drinking like, 5 or 6 liters of water a day...

I ended up spending a few days at the Mayo Clinic getting my kidneys checked out. They basically told me everything was fine—that nothing was wrong, you know?

But turns out, things actually *were* wrong. It was an ovarian cyst/tumor, which apparently can show up as one of those symptoms.

So, yeah... it might be nothing, or maybe it really is something.

You simply can't rule out any diagnosis based solely on a subjective description.

mistygull21 said:But there's no way your body actually needs 5 liters every single day.😲 How much are you actually getting in? 😍 Are you doing intense workouts? Or are you just exceptionally large (tall and heavy)? Because 5 liters is seriously excessive—you're putting way too much strain on your kidneys.

I'm not doing any intense sports right now, nor am I huge (I'm about 130 lbs). 😁
And my water intake is perfectly fine for what I do. Please don't try to scare me into thinking I have some underlying illness! 😲

Isn't that kind of a thyroid thing, you know, when you're feeling thirsty all the damn time?
Or maybe it's just that you shouldn't be feeling thirsty at all... hmm...

Actually: I tanned a bit, dropped a couple of pounds, and haven't picked a fight with anyone lately😁

Dear Sean Myers9,
what exactly do you mean by "tanned"? Have you been spending quite a bit of time out in the sun?

I ask only because there are certain adrenal gland issues that can trigger such shifts—much like sudden thirst or low blood pressure—and I certainly don't wish to cause unnecessary alarm...

However, if you find that your fatigue levels are also increasing, perhaps it would be wise to schedule an appointment with your doctor. While I am sincerely hoping it is nothing of consequence, if these symptoms persist, a quick check-up costs you nothing but peace of mind.

You’ve made a sharp observation there—though, if I’m being honest, it feels like we might be looking at a bit of a non-issue too... For my part, I’ve been struggling with an overactive adrenal gland (high cortisol levels, you see), and that specific imbalance has left me feeling absolutely famished. It isn't always a matter of blood sugar, you know?

Perhaps it would be wise to merge this discussion with the thread regarding hydration before and after meals... it seems like a very similar conversation is unfolding there... or, better yet, we could simply direct those experiencing intense hunger over to that topic.

Could be diabetes insipidus. Go see a doctor...

What’s the connection between low barometric pressure and feeling extra thirsty?

Well, Cushing's syndrome is on the table, though there hasn't been any mention of D.I. yet—if I recall correctly, that usually involves increased urination, whereas I actually tend to retain quite a bit of fluid. But we shall see! For months now, I have been running back and forth to my doctors like some elderly lady drowning in endless paperwork, just waiting for this mountain of tests to finally happen. Ugh, I am just so exhausted...

Well, you see—low blood pressure and excessive thirst (I’m typing without any accents on my keyboard right now, so please bear with me!) are actually both potential symptoms of hypocortisolism—specifically Addison's disease.

So, I’ve already knocked back a whole liter of water since this morning, even though it's only been an hour or so, and my stomach feels totally full, yet somehow I'm still hungry... sugar levels seem fine, everything feels okay, I guess that's just how it goes... there are days when I barely touch a glass of water in forty-eight hours, honestly... so no biggie, it's all pretty normal. I've actually been living on nothing but fruit and water for four days now (I just can't deal with heavy food right now, I'm definitely not a foodie at the moment), it's the only thing that sits right with me, so.... JUST DO WHAT YOUR GUT TELLS YOU TO DO 🍷
