Day trips near St. Louis?

Alright, so here’s the deal: I’m living in St. Louis, and I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth checking out in the surrounding area. You know, stuff that isn't just boring—maybe some hiking trails, or visiting a cool historic estate or something... I think you guys get what I'm getting at...

I’ve got a few ideas floating around for Valentine's Day, so I want to see how this would all play out. I need to pin down exactly where I can go and what there is to see...
I was thinking about hitting up a specific spot, and if the weather decides to cooperate, maybe grab some food for a picnic or something along those lines. So, hit me with your best suggestions. Thanks! 😬

Head a bit north from our "river city" toward the flatlands out near Albuquerque. As far as I know, there are two castles worth checking out; one in Great Falls and another in Savannah. You also can't go wrong with the Everglades. I hear it's pretty romantic, especially now that the mosquitoes aren't biting quite as hard.👍

Look... there isn't some official guide specifically for a "Tour de Baranja," but you can make anything happen if you want to. 😉 Regarding the Everglades, there's a reception right at the entrance. You can get a guided walk through the park or a boat ride on the lakes. They also offer certain activities paired with lunch (or dinner, depending on when you arrive). It’s not peak season right now, so I doubt you need a reservation, but check www.everglades.com just to be safe.

Head over to Great Falls and hike up to that old ruined castle—the nature there is great, plus there's a lodge if you need to rest. Or maybe hit Albuquerque, down by the river confluence. Honestly, Savannah & Charleston have that old-school charm too.
Don't overthink the specifics, just go and experience it... it'll be way more interesting that way. 😉

Honestly, just head out to Jacksonville—it’s about an hour's drive from St. Louis—and you'll be fine. You can go hiking or just take a long walk through the woods, and they've got decent hotels and restaurants right there...

I think you might have some bungalows out in the Everglades... maybe you could rent them out...
supposedly they're made of wood... and I guess it's nice that there aren't any mosquitoes, though there isn't really any greenery either...
