How do I add a userbar (image) to my signature?

So, quick question...

I'm trying to add a userbar to my signature—for those who don't know, those are those long, skinny .gif strips showing stuff you're into—but I can't get it to work...

It's supposed to look like this:


I figured it would work using HTML, since the forum doesn't support direct image uploads, let alone .gifs, in signatures. But nope! 😠
Every time I use the HTML code, instead of seeing the actual gif, I just get a plain old link to the userbar... 😕

Here’s the HTML I'm using:

(I added asterisks * just so the preview wouldn't turn into a gif here in the main window, since it works fine there, but it fails in the signature)
Do I need to format the code differently specifically for this forum?? 🙈

I should have used HTML, but the forum won't allow any images in signatures.
