Post-op scar healing / closing surgical incisions

A friend of mine used a mix of Bepanthen and Contractubex after her surgery, and honestly, there’s zero visible trace left. Just so you know, it's totally standard for a scar to look reddish for the first six months up to a year or so.

Some people just take forever to heal, and man, it can look pretty rough for a while. Like, my mom had thyroid surgery, and she was stuck with this really nasty scar for over a year. It’s basically invisible now, but it took so much time before things finally calmed down. It's weird because I know other people where the redness and that ugly texture just vanish way faster. Personally, I think Contractubex and Jomelop lotion are the way to go. That lotion is actually amazing—it even helps shrink acne scars significantly 🙂

Hey everyone, it's me again—back with my tattoo scar situation. I'd love for you guys to take a look and give me your honest thoughts; I know nobody here is a doctor, but still... check out these little pits. The scabs haven't fully fallen off yet, but I'm honestly terrified they're going to leave permanent marks http://img695.imageshack.us/i/012810182528.jpg/ So, what do you think? Should I start using Contractubex?
Right now I'm just sticking with some Panthenol, but I was thinking about switching over to Contractubex later on

It won't last. Honestly, I don't think you should be applying Contractubex while there's still a scab present.

It'll pull itself together. Calm down—what exactly did you expect after having your thyroid removed? It just takes time (several months, maybe even longer), and then things will be fine 🙂.

Ugh, thank you! 🙂 One of the spots actually filled in already, but the other one is still there—though it seems to be slowly getting back to normal

It will. And again—it takes time... a lot of it.

just slather some Bepanthen on it to calm things down, your skin looks totally irritated

Man, I wouldn't know—I've been slathering it on ever since my scabs fell off, just like you suggested... so maybe a month or two? I heard you really have to be stubborn about it—like, applying it 3 or 4 times a day and giving the scar a little massage if possible. Mine actually looks way better now because of it.

It’s been four months since my surgery—depending on how busy I am during the day, I’m applying treatment to the scar about four to six times. Now, I'm wondering exactly how much longer I should stick to this routine? Maybe someone else can weigh in on the topic 😁.

Is it still red? Mine's starting to turn white

It’s red, though definitely paler than it was right after the surgery. I’m dealing with a vertical incision on my abdomen—about 21 inches long🙂 plus three drain sites.

I also have four incisions and a drain from a laparoscopic procedure about four months ago (nearly five now), and those are actually looking pretty faded.

And listen—I was just chilling today and happened to glance down at my arm, and honestly? Everything looks pretty straight... well, not *everything*, but most of it is! I'm so happy thanks to you, honey 😘 so what are you using to rub on it?

Right now I’m using my second tube of Contrakel. I started out with something from Aven, then tried Contractubex—but that stuff made my scar itch like crazy... so the pharmacist recommended what I'm using now.
