Is there an issue with that?😕

I’m not super familiar with Belara specifically, but I remember when I switched from Yaz to Lindynette—Yaz has 24 active ones plus 4 placebos to trigger your period. My doctor told me to start the first pack of Lindynette right after the last active pill from the Yaz pack, basically before my period even started. Sadly, I thought I had to wait until after the 28th pill, so by the time I saw my doctor, I was already on day 27. I ended up having to use backup protection for those first ten days.

Check the actual instructions inside the Belara box—they’ll definitely have a section on switching from other brands, so just follow their lead. If what your doctor said matches the manual, you’re probably good to go—but if they don't align, I'd honestly grab a second opinion. Better to trust the manufacturer who knows their own formula than to play guessing games, you know? 🙂.

According to the Loestrin insert, if you're switching from another brand, you can follow the usual routine—take a seven-day break and then start the new cycle. However, if I recall correctly, you might need to use backup protection for the first five days.

Hey there. 🙂 Looking for a quick and accurate answer if anyone knows.
So, I came down with a fever and some chills yesterday, so I picked up some Vitamin C and Tylenol at the drugstore. However, I’m on Triquilar, and being out of it with the fever, I completely forgot to ask about potential drug interactions.
Now I'm reading the instructions, and it says 1000mg of Vitamin C can increase serum estrogen levels, which might lead to side effects? What does that actually mean in practice? Do I need extra protection this month, or should I just avoid taking it while on the pill altogether?

THANKS A LOT! 😉

Hey, quick question for the girls who stopped taking the pill. I was on it for about a year and a half, but I finally quit last month. When should I actually expect my period to show up? It’s already five days late and I’m starting to get a little anxious about it... :/

I'm actually still on them myself, but honestly, don't sweat it—it's totally normal. Every woman's body works differently, right? Some people get it sooner, some later... stopping the pill just throws your hormones out of whack for a bit, and your body needs some time to recalibrate..

Anyway, don't worry 🙂.

I have a question for the group... I’ve been on Yaz for quite a while now, and honestly, I can’t even remember the last time I actually went in for blood work—maybe eighteen months ago? Anyway, between my PMS hitting hard and just a few other bad days, I decided to quit taking them entirely. It was really just the only way I could force myself to finally go to the OBGYN, get a referral for blood tests, and schedule an appointment. Usually, I just play guessing games because the thought of trekking down there and waiting three hours just to get a damn referral is exhausting. So, I stopped, went for the paperwork, and got everything booked. My appointment is set for December 15th (even though I haven't seen her in months), and I was thinking about doing the blood work right before the exam so the results are fresh. Will this little break affect my blood count? I should have mentioned that I plan to start back up again; I’m just worried since I’ve been on these for five or six years, there might be some lingering effects. Also, how incredibly stupid was it to take a month or two off only to jump right back in?
P.S. It was just one of those irrational moments where you lose your mind at everyone and everything and decide to scrap your entire life plan... yeah...

Then my PMS hit, combined with a few other bad days, and I decided to just quit the pill entirely. It was honestly the only way to force myself to finally go see my OBGYN to get a referral for labs and set up an exam (I kept putting it off because I couldn't face the hassle of waiting three hours just for a damn referral paper!). So, I stopped taking them, grabbed the paperwork, and scheduled everything. My appointment is December 15th (even though I haven't seen her in months), and now I'm wondering: should I get my blood drawn right before the exam so the results are fresh? Also, will this break I took mess with my blood count? (I forgot to mention I plan to start back up again, but I'm low-key terrified since I've been on them for 5 or 6 years—worried about long-term effects :/ ). And how stupid was it to take a month or two off and then jump right back in?!
P.S. This was just one of those crazy female moments where you snap at everyone and everything and just throw the whole plan out the window... yeah...

I think that wasn't exactly a genius move. The whole point of getting bloodwork while you're on the pill is to monitor how they affect your platelets, liver enzymes, and stuff like that. If you took a break, your results might not reflect your actual status while on them. It’s lazy of your doctor not to schedule regular checkups, but hey, you can always demand that yourself. You can use the pill for years without any issues, no breaks needed. Stopping for a couple of months and then restarting is a massive shock to the system. We're talking hormones here... But whatever, it's done. You'll just have to see what your doctor tells you.

So, I’ve broken out in a rash on my face 🙄
Since I haven't eaten anything unusual—nothing out of the ordinary for me—I'm thinking it might be the pill (I've been on QLaira for about 20 days now, just my first month). So, what now? Should I go see a gynecologist to ask for an alternative, or could this just be a temporary reaction? 🤷

Are you taking anything else along with the pill?
I ended up with a full-body rash from an antibiotic once (Augmentin). I assumed it was just the pill, but I guess it turned out to be an amoxicillin allergy after all. 😁

Nah, nothing really—no medications. The only new thing I’ve had to drink or eat lately is a different brand of bottled water.😁So, I was at the pharmacy earlier—the lady there told me it’s just a really mild case of diarrhea since there’s no redness or itching or whatever—so I’m just gonna finish this box first, and in the meantime, I'll head over to the gynecologist.🤷

I know I’ve made a fool of myself, but what can you do... Even though until recently, the official policy on birth control was that you had to take a three-month break after long-term use—like once every two years—but now what? Apparently, that doesn't even apply anymore. And honestly, my gynecologist is driving me up the wall; she treats appointments like a pit stop, rushing you through dressing and undressing like you're on a stopwatch. You try to ask a simple question about what's actually necessary and she just brushes you off. It’s nauseating dealing with them. Grrr. Just thinking about that one cranky nurse makes my blood boil... Anyway, in the meantime, I found out I have hyperthyroidism. It’s been depressing having to swallow so many pills every day, and then having to worry about birth control on top of all that. I'm genuinely curious to see what 🙂 will have to say about it.

Sam Lopez11 said:About a month and a half ago, I had a color Doppler ultrasound. The doctor there diagnosed me with "pure PCOS," noting 26 cysts on my left ovary and 16 on the right. However, (calling them "real" cysts... 😛He didn't mention those specific details... so I guess they aren't part of the standard profile, though I often find blood clots and these strange little "skin" fragments in my discharge. Did you experience that too? Honestly, I’m at a loss for what counts as normal anymore. Ever since I started on the pill, I've dealt with this irregular discharge from time to time, and it’s been maddening. Gin. suggested that if it persists through the second pack, I should probably switch to a stronger prescription. I'm starting the second pack tonight, so I suppose we'll see. 🙂

Hmm, I don't think you need to worry about blood clots—I assume everyone gets them, myself included... I haven't seen any of those "skin" bits, though (maybe ask your doctor about that?)
I really hope things work out for you... but regarding the discharge, it's actually pretty normal both before and after your period 😉 especially if there's a cyst involved... sometimes one pops and that causes that weird, slimy-looking discharge...

I'm thinking about stopping my birth control pills, but would it be an issue if I don't finish the whole pack?

I don't think it'll be an issue, though your cycle might get a little wonky 🙂

I actually stopped halfway through once before and nothing crazy happened. Not that I can remember what my OB-GYN told me at the time 🤔

I was on Diane for about six months because of some skin issues, but then I decided to take a break. I finished my last dose when I was ten months along—wait, let me rephrase—I finished my last dose at ten months [of treatment], and my period came back quite normally within seven days after that. That was back on October 24th. Since then, I haven’t had my period yet, even though I was expecting it by now. How much could my cycle be delayed specifically because I stopped taking Diane? My stomach has been acting up, but honestly, I think it’s just nerves because I’m getting really anxious about this delay. I did have sex with my boyfriend, though we used withdrawal as our method. What do you all suggest? Should I go ahead and take a pregnancy test?

Look, take a test if you think it’ll give you some peace of mind, but honestly, things usually get a little wonky with your cycle after you stop taking birth control. It’s most likely just your body reacting to quitting the Diane pills... though, let's be real, there's always that lingering chance of pregnancy whenever you're sleeping with your guy without protection—whether it's the pill, an IUD, or whatever else you're using.

Ladies, can someone give me some advice? I’m looking to track my first period ever :-) After waiting forever, it finally started today. But with me, it’s inconsistent—sometimes it’s a heavy flow and other times it’s just a few drops, much like what I’m experiencing right now. So, should I start logging today as soon as the spotting began, or should I wait until tomorrow to see if the actual bleeding kicks in? Or does day one officially begin with that very first drop? :-)

Honestly, I’ve always been super confused by this too. There were times when I’d get spotting and then my period would show up the very next day, but other times it felt like the actual period started right away. It’s incredibly hard to tell them apart—at least for me. So, my move was just to wait until things actually got moving before taking the pill, and then I’d make sure to use extra protection for those first few days. It really depends on which brand you're on, though; the instructions usually lay it all out for you. 🙂

If you’re dealing with spotting, it usually drags on for three or four days—shorter than a full cycle. So, this will most likely just be a "drip" 🙂 since I only got three drops on the pad this morning, even though my ovaries are cramping up. 🙄
I was thinking about just taking it tonight because I don't expect much to change. Even if it does, I doubt it'll matter, other than maybe getting my next one on the 29th instead of the 28th. :-)

Does anyone have a recommendation for which test is best? Also, I've been noticing some thick, clumpy discharge lately, though I know that's usually pretty typical right before my period starts.
