So I went to see my doctor today to get my prescription extended, and they told me they aren't giving out Lindynette anymore—only Logest now. Does anyone know what the damage is on that one?

Hey ladies!

First off, sorry about this messy post—I actually ended up making a separate thread specifically about Yaz too, so bear with me.

So, here’s the quick rundown of what’s going on with me: for the last six months, I’ve been on Trinovum, and honestly, things were fine. But, before I even started the Trinovum—after dealing with my period skipping for three months at a time and getting all my hormone tests back—I finally got diagnosed with hypothyroidism back in June. (Quick update on that: my follow-up after three months of treatment showed my levels are totally ideal now, so the hypo is officially under control!) Apparently, though, that whole situation brought along some cysts on my ovaries.

My regular OB-GYN referred me over to a specialist at a major hospital in downtown Chicago—they handle all the endocrine-related gynecological stuff there—and after checking me out, the specialist told me I should switch over to Yaz since it would be a better fit for my specific situation. She told me to just finish my current pack of Trinovum and then start the first Yaz pill on the very first day of my next period. I’ve always taken mine around 10 PM, so I’m planning to stick to that routine. The only thing that really tripped me up was her instructions versus the actual pamphlet... because the Yaz instructions say if you're switching from another brand, you should start it immediately after your last old pill, but I didn't find out about the switch until just yesterday (after talking to my doctor), and I couldn't even get my hands on the Yaz until yesterday afternoon anyway. I took my last Trinovum on Tuesday, and my period actually started today—so, I'm just going to follow the specialist's advice and take my first Yaz today.

I’m really hoping the protection is still reliable during this first week... has anyone else here made the jump from a different brand to Yaz? How did it go for you?

I have to admit, I'm a little nervous about side effects. I’m really crossing my fingers that I get lucky and don't run into any issues, because I never had any real reactions to the Trinovum—everything was just smooth sailing. I felt so lucky that I found the right birth control on my first try, and getting them covered by my supplemental insurance was such a huge win... so, seeing this price tag of $46 for the Yaz definitely wasn't the highlight of my week..

Hey girls,

I was wondering, is it actually okay to just stop taking birth control pills and then start back up again once my period kicks in?
So, I basically took an unplanned 20-day break—I was over in Europe for a trip and totally forgot to pack them, and now it’s been about 20 days since my last dose... so I'm thinking about starting fresh once my first period arrives.

Honestly, that isn't exactly the smartest move—it really isn't great for your body's natural rhythm.
But at this point, there isn't much else you can do, right? You just have to wait until your cycle starts and then begin taking them again—that's really all there is to it.

Well, partially, Medicare covers some of them, though if I recall correctly, it's only about $3.75.
Based on that, I figured some of them are basically full price.$12

Your best bet is just asking at a local CVS or Walgreens.🤷

Maybe they started switching from Lindynets to these through insurance just this month, because my doctor told me she'd send over Lindynets once my labs were back, but then she ended up sending Logest instead.

And honestly, she wasn't even prescribing them for any specific treatment since I don't have an official diagnosis yet.
I didn't really care either way, I just mentioned that I definitely wasn't interested in taking Yasmine.🙂.

Hey everyone! So, I’ve been on the pill for ages now, right? But out of nowhere, I just got my period on day 12. And I’m talking totally unexpected here—I haven't missed a single pill, and I definitely haven't been throwing up or anything. Does anyone have a clue why this might be happening? Could there be any connection to pregnancy?

So, what's the current price for Lindynette?
Did they go up in price then?

Edit: I found out—Lindynette should still be $11 just like they were before.
It looks like only Logest became cheaper.

The girl above mentioned that instead of Lindynette, they're handing out Logest through Medicare now.🤷

I am... ovdjeI was looking through the supplemental medication list earlier—and I actually found the pricing for both Logest and Lindynette—so I naturally assumed that both are covered by Medicare. However, since Logest is currently the cheaper option, it seems to be prescribed much more frequently. Honestly, I’m a bit lost now—does anyone actually make sense of how these coverage tiers work? 🤷

Honestly, who knows what’s going on... maybe just some hormonal imbalance? If I were you—and I mean, if I were in your shoes—I’d just wait through today and see how things feel, and then either call my OB-GYN tomorrow or just head over to their office for a quick check-up.

And look, if you’re worried about being pregnant, go grab a test right now, or just get to the doctor immediately for an exam—because if it turns out you *are* pregnant, you’d need to stop taking the pills right away.

Just try not to stress too much—usually, when we freak out, everything just feels ten times worse—but I'm crossing my fingers for you and hoping it's nothing serious!

Ugh, I don't know, I am seriously praying I'm not part of that unlucky 1%.
But it's not just like, a tiny little spot or anything... I actually got my full period. 🙂

How long have you been on them, and which ones specifically are you taking?
And you've never had bleeding like that while actually being on the pill before?
Did you deal with any other side effects at all?
What does the actual pamphlet say about this happening?

Just take it easy—everything is going to be fine. If you’ve been taking them consistently—and you said you have—then the chances of this happening should honestly be microscopic... so I’m thinking maybe there was just some kind of hormonal imbalance. Have you been under a lot of stress lately? Maybe?

Hey, I've been on them for about 5 months now. At first, I started spotting around day 18, but it kept shifting depending on the pack, so maybe with my last box it happened just a day before the break. The instructions don't actually mention anything specific; they just say to call the doctor, but I can't get an appointment for another two weeks. And honestly, I don't think I've been stressed out at all these past few days XD

I was really hoping someone else had gone through this too, which is why I posted. I couldn't find anything helpful on Google either. 😢

The only thing that just crossed my mind is that I recently moved from Florida down to Chicago, and the weather here has been absolutely freezing—maybe that played a part? This used to happen to me all the time back before I started the pill.

That happened to me once. I was on Yasmin for years. One time, I ended up getting my period right in the middle of a pack. I just kept taking them as usual, but that month I basically had a two-week period because the bleeding wouldn't stop and carried right through the break. After that, I stayed on the pill for another year or so and nothing like that ever happened again. It occurred on the day I was traveling to another city for an event I was incredibly excited about—so I figured stress played a part and didn't give it much thought at the time. Looking back, I might be more concerned, but back then I was just a carefree girl 😁.

When you mentioned being on the pill for "a long time," I was thinking years, not five months. Perhaps your body is still adjusting, combined with whatever travel stress you were under?🤷

Hey everyone! Just dropping in to say hi! Hope you're all having an absolutely killer day! ✨ kaže:

When you mentioned you've been on the pill for "ages," I honestly thought we were talking years, not just five months! 😂 Maybe your body is still just getting used to the routine and finding its rhythm? It takes a minute sometimes!🤷

Ugh, tell me about it! Honestly, I’ve been there. I was on it for a while, then I took a little breather—like a solid two or three months—and then just jumped right back into it! It’s such a cycle, right? 😂
Honestly, reading what you just wrote actually made me feel a whole lot better already! ❤️✨ 🙂
Honestly, I was legitimately floored by how this all went down. Like, I’m still sitting here processing it because I seriously did not see it coming!
Ugh, honestly though, I’m seriously starting to think that massive climate shift is actually doing something to us. Like, even back in the day, whenever I used to travel and noticed a huge jump in the temperature, I’d feel my heart just start racing like crazy! It's wild how much the weather affects everything, right?

curie0 - And could you perhaps give your gynecologist a call? Personally, I’m assuming it isn't anything serious and that you aren't pregnant; it might just be the change in seasons... Keep me posted on what they say.

And hey, he can basically just guess along with us too! As soon as I hear anything, I'll definitely post an update 🙂
