December 31, 2022. I’m looking back at the results of those New Year's resolutions I made on January 1st, 2022.

Actually, scratch that—I forgot all about them. I haven't really done the whole "New Year's resolution" thing in decades now—it just isn't my style anymore. 👍 How about you guys? Are you still making them?

Between my endless to-do lists and these constant, nagging obligations, I feel like I'm constantly under the gun. If there is one thing I want—and I mean any time of year, not just some fleeting New Year's resolution—it is to live with significantly less stress.
I’ve spent far too much time losing sight of who I actually am because I was too busy trying to play every single role expected of me, desperately trying to meet everyone else's demands. It was a massive mistake. In this next chapter, I am finally stripping all that away and returning to my true self and my own core essence.

Unless suicide makes it onto my New Year's resolution list, it was a pretty decent year. Minus one...

Haha
I've lost count of how many times I've been screwed over here.
It’s just one massive failure after another.

The situation? It’s just getting progressively worse.

Well, I'm crossing my fingers that my dear fellow forum member finds some real love soon; we actually had his topic right here on the board 👍

Way to go, Azz 👍 once you find that inner peace and start putting yourself first, everything else just starts falling into place. 😛

Finally, some breathing room. I’ve officially cut out the last of the toxic relationships, and now I’m planning to wipe my social media clean. My goal is to focus on a select few people I actually want to build deeper connections with, while cutting everyone else out—including this forum. I have plenty of plans and goals in mind, but I won't be making any public declarations about them.

Honestly, it’s been one of those years where nothing massive really went down—nothing life-altering or "wow" worthy. But I'm actually pretty good with that. Everything is just moving along in this chill, positive direction, and more importantly, I'm staying relaxed without letting things get under my skin.

My time at Goldman Sachs was truly rewarding. I’m genuinely proud of my professional growth and incredibly satisfied with how far I’ve come through constant self-improvement. I feel empowered.

For what it's worth, I'm doing alright.
Got my fitness back on track, sorted out some health issues—basically, I’m feeling a whole lot better than I was this time last year.

I’m heading into the new year feeling proud, lucky, and really confident.

My goal was to travel solo through two different countries, but I actually ended up getting to spontaneously visit a few more along the way! 🎉

I’ve been busy refreshing old connections, cutting out the toxic people, and making some great new friends.
I even managed to build one really solid, genuine friendship. 🤣

I also set out to pass my Spanish certification. To my surprise, I passed on the first try with a great score, even though I wasn't totally happy with how the course went. There's still plenty to learn, but at least I have the certificate in hand after all that hard work, so I can keep moving forward.

I managed to stick it out at my job for over a year, but I finally put in my notice recently. My boss turned out to be a total jerk, which I already suspected, but the breaking point was the blatant disregard for my contract and hours. They also refused to move me to a better position—even though my managers, coworkers, and performance metrics were all on my side—or accommodate me for health reasons during the winter months. That was the last straw; I said "bye bye" and moved on.

Finally, I’ve started taking programming seriously since that's where I want my career to go. I’ve successfully stuck to a self-study routine for over a month straight, which is a huge win for me. 🤣

I’ve already got my sights set on the new year, focusing on just three main things.
1. Finishing up another language course.
2. Keeping up the momentum with my coding studies.
3. Finding a new job where I can communicate more and practice my language skills.

+ I’d love to hit up a few more countries if the opportunity pops up.
+ I'm not too worried about the job hunt; I have a couple of leads already, I just need to wait a month or two for the paperwork to clear.

I cannot wait for 2024! 🎉🎉

Exhausted—and completely drained.

By all accounts, this has been one of those particularly grueling, demanding, and utterly draining years.

Personally, I’d say this has been one of those years that really tests you, but honestly? It’s been way better for it. I’m feeling pretty good about where things landed...

not great
It actually started off pretty strong—I mean, things were looking up during the middle of the year and everything felt solid—but then everything just went completely south. A big part of that was because I ended up losing my job during the recession, which really threw a wrench in the whole thing.

Signed.
One hell of a menu. Truly. Illness, surgery, getting fired, losing a friend suddenly, starting a new job, more health issues, quitting again, moving house...
Now I've just been stuck on the couch in front of the TV for two months, feeling more unemployed than ever, mindlessly scrolling through YouTube, completely lost.
I'm just praying to God that I get healthy and that things settle down.
I am exhausted beyond belief. All I do is sleep, barely eat, walk a little, and watch TV.
A year worth crying over.
Hoping the next one treats me better. I've earned it.
