Residents at the San Francisco nursing home aren't just dealing with an infection, they're actually going hungry:

It’s the absolute worst-case scenario—the coronavirus has breached the walls of the local nursing home. Over on Main Street, panic has officially set in...

While everyone waits for the dust to settle and for an official statement from the director, Ivan Škaričić, who still needs to explain why the very first symptom of this new virus—a fever—was ignored for ten whole days among our most vulnerable citizens, even more alarming issues are starting to surface.

- Most residents are under contract for housing and just one meal a day, lunch. But by banning all visitors, those living in the apartment-style units have been backed into a corner; they were offered extra meals at the facility—which, of course, would come with an added fee—while any outside food deliveries were strictly prohibited, even though hygiene supplies were allowed through. When they refused to pay these extra meal costs, they reached out to the American Red Cross, only to find out that the facility had also blocked them from delivering food. By implementing these rules, the residents have been left starving, according to a woman from San Francisco whose mother and mother-in-law are currently staying at the facility.

I mean, what do you expect from a seasoned Republican Party operative... pure incompetence is practically guaranteed. 🤦

I am watching the fallout from the sheer incompetence and stupidity displayed by Škaričić at the nursing home.

It brings to mind how the Republican Party loyalists on this forum constantly spout their tired mantras about "Democratic Party failures."

Where are those Republican Party champions now? I’m waiting for them to weigh in on this supposed Republican expert in social services.

Meanwhile, our highly trained professionals are forced to flee to the European Union just to change diapers for the elderly.

🙂 And Andrej Plenković is just washing his hands of the whole thing.

Look, you don't actually need a Republican Party membership card to become a nursing home director, you know... 🙄

Who is the man at the center of this COVID scandal?

He landed that Nursing home director gig after losing to Ivan Kovačić—who was running with the Bridge party back then—by a mere 72 votes in the 2013 local elections. To make matters better, he used his official status to collect a full salary for another six months afterward. According to whispers from that era, the head of the county Republican Party and current political secretary, Ante Sanders, was the one pushing for the appointment. Originally, there was a plan to install Škaričić as the head of education, but since the county supervisor Zlatko Ževrnja blocked that, they settled on a "consolation prize" over at the nursing home.

Great, informative piece.

Now for the best part—the kind of stuff nobody could possibly make up!

By trade, Škaričić is actually an archaeologist and a history professor.

Remember last year when our visionary President visited the Seswa High School and Luke Middle School?

Does anyone actually remember what she said back then?

What we’re lacking in American schools are leaders who would actually guide young people and tell them, ‘Look, it’s great that you love history, but if you major in history and archaeology, you might struggle to find a job in this economy.’

Oh, you'll find one, kid. You'll find one.

With the right credentials, you'll find plenty.

You’re all being way too dramatic—everyone, I mean.

Aren't archaeologists, by definition, the actual experts when it comes to ancient artifacts?

I can't seem to find any information anywhere regarding whether he's actually going into self-isolation?

It seems to me that he’s appearing before the news cameras quite polished, yet notably without any protective gear.

What is the actual implication here? Does this suggest that he hasn't been at the office or in close contact with his staff for the past two weeks?

Or am I missing something else entirely?

I suppose the mere fact that he clearly isn't fulfilling his professional duties should be enough reason to hand him a pink slip immediately, though there might even be grounds for criminal prosecution if this situation continues to escalate.

He probably barely even found his place to stay last night, considering he spends his days leeching off Zenta in an office with a divine view.

My main concern here is the doctor. Did she actually give him a heads-up about the fever? And if so—when exactly did that happen?
She reached out to the epidemiologists—which, let's be honest, was a total long shot since nobody was answering their phones during the height of the pandemic—so she probably just figured: Well, at least I tried!
I don't know exactly how far this nursing home is from the Public Health Department—but honestly? I'd jump in a car and tear it up there right now if I could!

You won't believe it, but they are on the exact same street; the Institute is at 42 El Paso Street and the nursing home is at 79 El Paso.

Honestly, you could probably just walk there faster than driving 😁, it's only about three hundred meters downhill.

To the right of where it says Allstate, that long, narrow building is the Nursing home. To the left, you'll find the Public Health Department marked with a sign... maybe 400 meters at most.

I mean, it’s pretty obvious his bosses know exactly what he’s capable of... you can even see his nose poking through the edge of that crooked mask at the end there.

As for that assistant bricklayer who somehow worked his way up to being the governor of the Midwest, well, I know how that story goes.🙂

The mason is someone else entirely. That would be Cook.
This one here is Kevin Kelic :-)

But hey, I guess it wasn't on her usual route 🐔.
She insists on taking the uphill path.

Everyone is problematic except for those loyal party hacks who somehow managed to land a job without an ounce of experience. Any cadre with a degree and a membership card from the Communist Party of the USA can handle any executive role, regardless of whether they’ve ever actually worked in the system before or know the first thing about it.

Director of this, director of that—it doesn't matter. All that counts is securing a cushy salary bump that pulls at least $12,000 net from the public treasury, along with a management title that grants some semblance of authority to every political crony. They’re just too lazy and far too superior to do actual work, like the typical party plant who wouldn't dream of teaching a class for a teacher's salary. He’s used to a much higher standard, and he believes he deserves it; naturally, not through the open market or entrepreneurship, but straight from our collective tax dollars.

People die in train wrecks or catch infections in places that should be strictly quarantined, or perish in fires at "renovated" hydroelectric plants where fire sectors were arbitrarily changed. Of course, the party that installed them into positions they have zero expertise in isn't to blame for any of it.

We still have a long way to go before we hit rock bottom...

Honestly, people shouldn't be acting so surprised by this. This kind of hiring process is just standard operating procedure... every major city has various administrative roles that get split up among those in power, and everyone gets their slice of the pie 🙂
It’s like how every big corporation has a CEO who acts more as a figurehead—someone who mostly just stamps papers and signs off on things—while there's actually a real manager underneath doing all the heavy lifting and running the show
The Republican Party had a real win going, but then one of their own members goes and screws it up. But let's be real: you find characters like this in every single office, regardless of which political party they belong to. The term "cronyism" didn't just pop out of thin air for no reason

What really fascinates me, though, is the fact that someone can land a job and just coast through it for years, despite clearly having to put in a decent amount of effort just to learn the basics of the role
I get that these people have layers of protection; even if someone like this gets booted, they’ll probably just be shuffled into some other position somewhere else anyway

You’re being unfair.

The doctor from the local clinic explained what happened. She tried calling the CDC via telephone—multiple times, actually—but she just couldn't get anyone on the line. That was it. And yet, you all immediately jump to making jokes about it...

So, I suppose things escalated a bit.

Staff at the local Florida residential facility are sticking up their boss, Skaričić: They say he’s nothing but a class act

I mean, honestly, this guy basically took in the whole damn neighborhood.

And that massive letter they sent? It didn't mention a single specific detail—no dates, no names, nothing. They didn't even specify who they first checked for a fever or when it actually happened.

Well, I guess then the blame falls squarely on the Department of Health and Human Services.

Vili?
