About 11 months ago, I was in a car wreck. Everything was clear-cut: some guy driving drunk failed to yield, and I ended up with some pretty nasty injuries. Since I wasn't in any state to blow into a breathalyzer, they drew my blood at the hospital. Now, my insurance company is refusing to pay out for either the car repairs or my medical bills because there isn't an official toxicology report on file. The police report clearly states the other driver was at fault and mentions they took my blood, but it says nothing about the actual results. So, naturally, I went to the police station to get those records. They told me the bloodwork is sitting in their lab, but they won't release it without a subpoena from the District Attorney’s office. After 38 attempts—including enough phone calls to make a telemarketer blush—I finally got ahold of someone at the DA's office. They were incredibly rude and basically brushed me off over the phone. I tried following up with two formal written requests, but silence. Two months ago, I finally hired a lawyer, but even that hasn't yielded anything yet. I’m honestly at a loss. Who else am I supposed to turn to? Is there a court on Mars I can appeal to, or should I just email the International Criminal Court? I’m losing my mind here. It feels like the people running this whole bureaucratic nightmare are the ones who actually came out on top in this 🙂
